4. Things to look out for… section 1
Anchoring condition
Many policies insist that a static caravan holiday home is anchored down – this can be at two, four or even six points. Many parks will already have anchored the static caravan holiday home down but if this is an insurance requirement, speak to the park owner / manager to make sure you comply. Most insurance providers will give you some time in which to get your static caravan holiday home anchored. However, failure to meet this requirement could invalidate your cover if storm or flood damage occurs.
Things to include in sums insured
When insuring your static caravan holiday home, it is essential you insure it for the correct amount. This can be confusing. It is a good idea if you are unsure of costs to ask the advice of an insurance specialist on how much it would cost to replace your static caravan holiday home (whether on a market value or new for old basis). Also don’t forget your equipment and items such as verandas, patios, optional extras and outbuildings such as sheds, to make sure they are covered.
Resiting and debris removal cover
The costs of resiting the static caravan holiday home is something static caravan holiday home owners need to consider carefully, it sometimes has to be included on top of the sums insured to provide cover in the event of a total write off. Also bear in mind if a total loss occurs due to fire, the pitch will need clearing of debris, a static caravan holiday home could need transporting to the park and it will need connecting up to the mains.
With Leisuredays up to £5000 debris removal and resiting costs is automatically included in the policy for peace of mind and does not have to be added to the sum insured.
