2013 Willerby Oyster Bay Lodge review

Willerby Oyster Bay Lodge Exterior

The Willerby Oyster Bay lodge should be high on your “must see” list, with the almond colour Canexel cladding, large white double glazed window and door frames all ensured that the lodge has a striking appearance.

Living area

And the interior is striking too. The side aspect door opens into an open plan living, dining and kitchen where the light flows in through the full height windows and sliding patio door. It sounds clinical to describe the interior as white, yet that is the colour, but complemented by two large freestanding sofas and an arm chair upholstered in a relaxing duck egg blue fabric with contrasting scatter cushions. An electric flame effect fire in a sleek black surround is wall mounted and above are the connections for a wall hung television.

Dining area

The dining area is a glass topped table with four faux leather high backed chairs set in front of a large window.

Lounge and kitchen with beam

If there are just the two of you, you may prefer to sit at the wall hung breakfast bar where there are two tall black swivel stools; you can keep an eye on what’s happening in the kitchen where, goodness me, I thought I was seeing double. Yes, I really did see an eight burner range-style gas hob with two gas ovens and a grill. Eye-catching it certainly is! There’s also a  good range of cupboards and drawers; a combination microwave, a dishwasher, a washer/drier and American style fridge freezer are standard fittings.

Kitchen view

The main bedroom has a 5ft lift-up double bed so there’s plenty of storage underneath. There’s a generously sized walk-in wardrobe with rails, drawers and shelves and if you need more storage there is access to a limited roof space.

Double bedroom with loft storage access

The en-suite shower room is lavish featuring black and white with a laminate tiled floor, a quadrant shower, a mounted basin set on a black worktop and a dual flush toilet.

En-suite shower room

The second bedroom has twin 3ft beds, and like the main bedroom, has a spacious walk-in wardrobe. The family bathroom takes its cue from the en-suite bathroom but does have a bath with an over bath shower and screen.

Twin bedroom

Verdict

It’s light, bright and spacious, with an air of sophistication but the eight burner gas hob may just be a little over the top!

  1. does anyone know anything about the banning of outside taps/hosepipes on caravan sites our site in portpatrick has banned the use of hoses. My understanding on looking up the legislation is that if you have a back flow valve fitted or a trigger mechanism attached to the hose to prevent backflow then this is allowed any comments and legislation details would be helpful.

  2. We have a Delta Platinum Lodge and notice that the Oyster has long window vertical blinds. Ca you say where we could purchase some to go in our Lodge? We would just require short sloping ones for the top windows as the sun is very hot through the during the day. Any help you can give would be helpful? thankyou

  3. Viewed from the outside the last window on the outside left, we want to fit a solar panel over the window but we can’t see where the carcass starts & finishes for fixing. Can you help.regards Jan jones
