2014 Pemberton Glendale 3-bed holiday lodge review

Pemberton Glendale Static Caravan

When it comes to the holiday caravan industry you would be hard pressed to find a company which has been around for as long as Pemberton whose 70 years’ experience in building holiday caravans shows that it must have been doing something right! And nowhere is this more evident than in the latest addition to its portfolio – the Glendale Lodge.

Two versions of the Pemberton Glendale are available, one 40ft x 20ft and the other 44ft x 20ft, the difference being that the extra 4ft in the larger home has been used to include a utility room. Apart from that there is basically no difference in the layouts or equipment specifications. Both are three bedroom models. Additionally, both models can be upgraded to residential home standard BS3632 for very little extra cost.

Pemberton Glendale Static Caravan Living and Dining Area

This review is based on our visit to the 44ft model but as we have already said it applies equally to the 40ft model apart from the utility room. The lodge sits on a twin axle galvanised chassis and is vinyl clad with timber and Canexel options in a range of colours. Two sets of trifold doors have been fitted in the end wall of the lounge/dining area with an option of one set being replaced by a window. PVC-U double glazing is standard throughout as is the pitched roof which is clad in pantile effect plastisol coated galvanised steel.

But nothing as far as the home’s exterior is concerned can prepare you for the internal layout. If you are a fan of open plan living, then we believe you will love the Pemberton Glendale. The entrance door leads directly into the lounge, with the kitchen and dining area beyond it. Furniture in the lounge comprises a two and three seat sofa, the former having a sofa bed option, plus two armchairs and side tables. But it was the electric fire which really attracted our attention. Set in simulated stone fireplace, it is a wood burning effect stove with the most realistic flames which we have ever come across. Above the fireplace is a bracket and aerial socket for a wall mounted TV – although the TV itself is an optional extra. In addition to the natural light from the trifold doors and windows, two very attractive chandeliers add another touch of luxury to the lounge.

Backing onto the lounge is the dining area which has a table and six chairs as standard with the table being extendable for up to eight diners; but again, the main feature which attracts attention is the kitchen adjoining the dining area.

Pemberton Glendale Static Caravan Dining Table

It is in a word, superb, coming as it does with just about every appliance anyone could wish for. In addition to a five burner hob and stainless steel externally vented extractor, it has an integrated dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and microwave, plus loads of storage cupboards and drawers. The hob is separate to the other cooking appliances being set in an island unit breakfast bar which comes complete with three bar stools and pop-up electric sockets. Also worth mentioning is the skylight which increases the natural light in the kitchen. Truly, a kitchen to drool over!

Beyond the kitchen, off the hallway leading to the bedrooms is the utility room. Here, there is a washer/dryer plus a stainless steel sink and more wall and floor cupboards.

Pemberton Glendale Static Caravan Double Bedroom

Next to the utility room is the third bedroom which has two single beds with padded headboards, a two door wardrobe with two drawers in its base, plus a dressing table and stool above which is a large wall mirror.

Opposite the third bedroom is the bathroom. In addition to a full size bath it also has a quadrant shower, a large rectangular washbasin set on top of a vanity unit either side of which are shelves and cupboards, and a low level toilet.

A second door in the bathroom leads directly into the second bedroom basically turning the bathroom into an en suite. The bedroom has a 5ft double bed plus built in double door framed mirror wardrobes and a freestanding dressing table with a framed mirror above it.

Pemberton Glendale Static Caravan Master Bedroom

The master bedroom also has a 5ft double bed. Facing the bed is a large dressing table with drawers either side of the kneehole. But the main feature is the walk-though wardrobe and dressing are leading to an en suite shower room.

The home has full central heating and comes complete with duvet covers, pillow cases, cushions and throws.

Verdict:

Excellent open plan living area with light and airy feel not least due to the skylight over the kitchen. The kitchen is truly superb. No shortage of fantastic features throughout. We consider this the best holiday lodge we have reviewed in a very long time.

  1. We first saw it at the lawns show and we thought it looked lovely so we did our home work and bought one, looking forward to delivery in November 2013

  2. This unit is actually 22′ wide.
At the present time the only one avialble to view is at our Wigan Showground. Please ring 01942 403955 to arrange a viewing.

    1. Hi Barbara,

I’ll speak to Pemberton and get back to you on this.

      Thanks
      Lucie

    2. Hi Barbara,

Pemberton wont be showing Glendale at the NEC show I’m afraid. I’m told its size is the main reason for this. Pemberton’s Park Lane and Marlow homes will be on display though.
If you’re keen to see the Glendale, there is one on display at Pemberton’s Wigan branch (Woodhouse Lane, Wigan, WN6 7NF). If you are interested in arranging a viewing please call Simone Hewitt, Permberton’s Sales and Marketing Manager on 01942 403955 or 07823 530147 (mobile).

      I hope this helps.

      Thanks

      Lucie

  3. Would you find a site for us if we punches Glendale from you and how much would it cost. Many thanks

    1. Hi Gill,

We can’t assist with the sale of the Glendale I’m afraid or the cost of siting it. You’re probably best speaking to Pemberton directly, their email address is [email protected], telephone number 01942 321221.

      I hope this helps.
