2016 Pemberton Knightsbridge static caravan review

An air of elegance and sophistication without compromising on practicality

Pemberton Knightsbridge Front Right

The Pemberton Knightsbridge is presented as their flagship single unit and features some eye-catching extras, a stunning use of décor and an interesting internal design.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Sign

At first sight, the Knightsbridge looks like a typical static caravan with the usual pitched roof. However, there’s a dormer window above the side access door, a skylight above the kitchen, and the front end has two angled windows at either side of the sliding patio doors, making the whole front into a shallow ‘bay’.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Lounge to Front

The caravan stands on a pre-galvanised twin axle chassis and is available in a range of cladding options, from vinyl and aluminium to timber and Canexcel. Various colours can be specified to suit both taste and eventual location of the unit.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Lounge Left

Insulation in side walls and under the floor is 60mm of fibreglass with the roof boasting 150mm. There are uPVC gutters and drain pipes and the flooring uses moisture-resistant boards (always a good thing to prevent water ingress) and all exposed pipework is fully lagged. All windows and doors are uPVC double-glazed and there’s an option of having windows in lieu of the patio door – although this option is not available in a residential specified caravan. When sited, Pemberton can also offer a range of decks in a variety of colours and styles, along with exterior lighting.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Lounge (to kitchen doors closed)

Walking in through the front patio doors from the deck you are impressed with one of the central features of the Knightsbridge – a divider wall resplendent with display cabinets and shelves and twin sliding doors separating the lounge from kitchen and dining areas. The lounge is light and airy lounge and the light oak timbering and beige fitted carpet gives a real sophisticated feel. The Knightsbridge has vaulted ceilings throughout with a minimum ceiling height of 7ft 4in (2.2m).

Pemberton Knightsbridge Dining Port

A stylish, classic style fireplace surrounds a realistic electric flame effect fire with a flat screen TV over the mantle. On the opposite wall, a large mirror is installed behind the sofa (which incorporates a pull-out sofa bed for occasional use).

The lounge is fully carpeted and has co-ordinating blinds, curtains and scatter cushions in shades of lime green which offset the light beige carpet and off-white upholstery. We particularly liked the green pelmets above the windows. The usual accessories are also included, like plenty of power sockets, well-placed light switches and TV and aerial points, plus a coffee table, ottoman and two side tables.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Lounge

Our overall impression of the lounge was that it offers a comfortable, cosy space designed for maximum relaxation and which can be opened up into the kitchen when catering for large parties.

The kitchen itself is really impressive with light flooding in from that skylight above the sink. There’s a big central island unit with cupboard storage under and a full range of quality drawers, under-the-counter and wall-mounted cupboards.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Kitchen

The countertops are light oak with contrasting white cabinets, and all doors and drawers have soft close mechanisms and smart gunmetal handles. Apart from the window and roof light, artificial lighting is by several well-placed downlighters and there are even under cabinet lights to throw as much illumination as possible on the food preparation areas.

A built-in eye-level double oven and grill is topped off with a microwave oven. There’s a four-burner hob with central wok burner and an extractor hood above and appliances included in the spec feature a dishwasher, fridge freezer and washer dryer. There’s even an option for a wine cooler!

Pemberton Knightsbridge Fridge & Boiler

For a static caravan – albeit a high spec one – the kitchen on the Pemberton Knightsbridge was one of the best we’ve seen. It really would be a pleasant place to cook a meal and entertain guests on the large dining table which comes complete with four upholstered chairs in a bright area opposite the main kitchen. The design, detail and planning here are superb.

The combi boiler for the caravan is situated in a cupboard near the side access door in the kitchen, alongside the fridge freezer.  Customers have the option of having an electric heating system installed in place of the gas if required.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Bathroom

Access to the bathroom and bedrooms is via a central door at the back of the kitchen and takes you into a narrow corridor. The first door to your right leads into the large family bathroom. Here you’ll find a full-length bath with glass side screen and tap-mounted shower, an oval hand basin and low profile double flush toilet. The floor is clad in timber-effect vinyl.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Family Bathroom (wide)

There’s a nice designer radiator that doubles as a towel rail and plenty of storage for pills and potions, as well as towels in a combination cupboard and shelf unit above the basin. A large illuminated mirror is also included. Although the bathroom is a little on the narrow side, the storage more than makes up for it.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Single Room

Back out into the corridor and straight ahead is the single bedroom. At 42ft long this version of the Knightsbridge only has the two bedrooms, so there’s more space to play with and the room does not feel at all cramped. The single bed is set against the outer wall near the window and has a padded headboard and a bedside table with shelves. Above, are a set of twin cupboards with central shelves and at the foot of the bed is a large wardrobe with central vanity area and illuminated mirror. Altogether a very nice room!

Pemberton Knightsbridge Master (wide)

The back of the Pemberton Knightsbridge is taken up by the master double bedroom, which is a huge space with 5ft central divan bed and a huge padded headboard. At the foot of the bed is a vanity unit with cupboards, a stool and mirror, with large mirrored wardrobes and a five-drawer chest with shelves above sitting opposite. Pemberton really have thought out the storage on this caravan and have made good use of every inch of space without compromising on the ‘feel’ of the rooms.

Pemberton Knightsbridge Master Vanity (wide)

The décor in both bedrooms is restful, being a combination of light oak furniture, cream walls, beige carpets and co-ordinating bedding and blinds. The lighting is subtle and classy touches like the special finials, curtains and tie-backs add a luxurious touch. There’s a range of bedding packs available as options.

Pemberton Knightsbridge En Suite (wide)

A door to the side of the bed leads into an en-suite bathroom with a low mount double flush toilet and pedestal handbasin. Again, there’s lots of useful storage in a large mirrored cabinet along with the usual tooth brush and toilet roll holders, plus a radiator.

Verdict

The Pemberton Knightsbridge is the perfect holiday caravan. The fact that you can buy it with residential credentials makes it much more than an occasional place to spend a fortnight or two. The design and décor are excellent and the use of high quality material both in the build and accessories really make it stand out from the crowd.
