2018 Regal Kingsbury static caravan review

Brand new for 2018, a static caravan with a great use of space and bags of home comforts.

Introduced for 2018, the Kingsbury range of static caravans from Regal Holiday Homes is one of three models in a small range offering two and three bed layouts.

Regal Kingsbury Ext Right Elev

Our review model was the 36ft x 12ft, two bedroom, which sits on a standard rectangular footprint with the usual domestic, white uPVC double glazed doors and windows with all guttering and downpipes also in white. A small overhang on the roof at the front has a contrasting bargeboard in charcoal and is emblazoned with the Regal logo.

Regal Kingsbury Sign

From the front, the Kingsbury displays a slightly unusual aspect with French doors opening to the deck on the right hand side with a double window set into a small bay on the left. The bay comes down almost to floor level and gives the caravan a chunky feel.

Regal Kingsbury Ext Front Elev

The Kingsbury features a low profile pitched roof, which is clad with black steel pantiles with side walls of aluminium. There’s an option to have environmental green cladding but not Canexcel which, looking at the entry level prices of the range, is unsurprising. There are two side windows and a central side access door fitted to the right side with further windows down the left side. An exterior light is fitted near the side door. If you want to opt for a front window on your holiday home, Regal can fit one as an alternative to the patio doors.

Regal Kingsbury Ext Left Elev

The static caravan sits on a single axle painted steel chassis and optional fully galvanised and pre-galvanised chassis are also available – once again, we’d recommend having one of these as added protection against corrosion.

A range of decking options are also available depending upon the caravan’s final location. On our review model a front deck was fitted, allowing access from the lounge through those patio doors – which are available as options.

Regal’s construction methods on the Kingsbury range include thick studding and insulation in all exterior walls, a minimum ceiling height throughout of 7ft and underfloor insulation and lagged pipework. On our review model a gas combi central heating system was fitted but on the basic specification this would be a six-litre water heater.

Entering from the side access door, you find yourself in the kitchen. Turn left and the lounge presents as a nice big square space which is both light and airy – a combination achieved by the large front windows (or doors) and light paintwork on the walls and ceiling. Lighting is by low energy LED fittings.

Regal Kingsbury Dining Table

There’s a half wall divider separating the kitchen from the lounge into which has been fitted an electric flame effect fire.  This is right next to the very spacious grey coloured corner seating unit (part of which conceals a pull-out bed) which runs all along one wall and around into the bay at the front. This is wide and comfortable with squashy back cushions and ideally positioned for watching TV – which sits on a low, cream unit with cupboards and large drawers opposite.

Regal Kingsbury TV & Shelving Storage

Other furniture supplied includes a coffee table with shelf under and some nicely designed wall shelving above the TV unit. The room is fully carpeted in a contrasting grey and curtains in a yellow gold pattern, which are suspended on poles with ball finials. Taken together, the lounge is a comfortable and spacious room which should be ideal for relaxing and, if you have small children – plenty of ‘play space’.

Regal Kingsbury Lounge Seating

The kitchen is another nice space and is split across the room with a substantial storage area with wall and floor cabinets – all domestic size and of good quality. On our review model there was an integrated microwave oven, which is usually an option, plus a built-in fridge freezer. The worktops are all a meaty 40mm thick in grey which goes well with the cream faces of the doors with their brushed aluminium handles. There’s also a USB point here for charging your devices.

Regal Kingsbury Dining & Kitchen

Fixed directly to the dividing ‘half wall’ is a good sized dining table, which has four cubed shaped stools in brown.  Space has been saved here as the stools can be tucked away under the table when not is use.

Regal Kingsbury Cooker & Sink

On the opposite side is an L-shaped unit with a four-burner gas cooker with oven and separate grill. This has an extractor hood with filters and lights and a glass splashback for the hob. To your right is a simple stainless steel sink and drainer with mixer tap and below, plus more cabinets for storage.

The kitchen is split by the access door that leads into the back end of the Kingsbury and to the bathroom and bedrooms.

Regal Kingsbury Shower

To the left is the family shower room with its single shower cubicle and thermostatically controlled shower unit and corner shelf.  The toilet is a modern low profile type with a push button flush.  There’s a small storage cabinet on the wall next to a mirror and the floor is covered in wipe clean vinyl with a plank effect pattern. Although small, the room passes our “You won’t bash your elbows when drying yourself” test!

Regal Kingsbury Toilet & Handbasin

Opposite the shower room is the twin bedroom. Again, this is a simply laid out room with two good-sized beds which have a small central table and shelf. You get a single table lamp for reading as well as a power socket.  A single curtained window lets in light and there’s a full height wardrobe with hanging space. As with the double bedroom, there are luxury bed sets and throws (as shown in our picture) available as options to enhance this room.

Regal Kingsbury Twin Bedroom

The master bedroom has the bed across the room with the bed head against the outside wall rather the rear wall.  This has been done to allow a small en-suite bathroom to be fitted, which is back-to- back with the shower room. Even so, there’s a large bed with a luxury mattress (lift up storage version as option), twin bedside tables/shelves and reading lamps. A big padded headboard adds a touch of luxury. There’s a large double wardrobe with hanging space and a simple ‘vanity’ shelf with mirror too.

Regal Kingsbury Master Bedroom

The en-suite, is accessed to the left of the wardrobe and vanity unit and is fitted with a toilet and tiny handbasin. There’s an option here (as well as in the shower room) to have a heated towel rail if desired.
