2018 Tingdene Country lodge review

A luxurious holiday lodge featuring a contemporary, stylish coastal interior design scheme.

Tingdene Country Lodge Ext Main

The Country Lodge from Tingdene Homes has some striking looks about it, with its walnut shaded Canexcel Ridgewood cladding and anthracite grey trim and windows.

It has a fairly substantial footprint – 40ft long and 20ft wide – which, of course, allows for a great deal of flexibility when it comes to allocating interior spaces.

Front and rear elevations have a roof overhang with the front having downlights to illuminate the decking area. Above the side access door is a small dormer canopy and there are plenty of large windows down each side. The front elevation is almost fully glazed with twin patio style doors and angled windows above that mimic the roofline. Access is through a single side door with  outside lights at either side and the master bedroom also has a large patio door that could lead out onto a further deck if needed.

The lodge is mounted onto a fully galvanised chassis and a range of decking options can be fitted, in a variety of styles, depending upon the chosen site and location.

Entering through the side door you find yourself in a square lobby. Just to the right of the door is a useful, if a little quirky, store for wellington boots. The lobby itself has plenty of space to store coats, umbrellas and other outside items and there’s even a small boot room. Turning left takes you into the main living area with a huge open plan lounge and kitchen.

The square shaped space is split 50/50 between lounge and kitchen. Several floor to ceiling windows and that glazed front end allow masses of natural daylight to flood the room. Ceilings are vaulted and there’s a roof light above the kitchen area. This, along with the cool coastal décor give the impression of a light and airy space while the contemporary furniture – armchairs, sofa, coffee table and TV unit add to the effect of cutting-edge living.

Tingdene Country Lodge Lounge & Feature Wall

There’s also a feature wall in a stylish timber effect that really sets off the expensive looking click and lock planked flooring. Heating radiators are tall and ‘designer’ in grey which not only provide heat but also act – in a way – as a form of wall art!

Tingdene Country Lodge Lounge Alternative View

The huge oval timber dining table with longback chairs is set near one of the two patio doors on the front wall. There’s plenty of room to seat four (and occasionally six) people around it and everyone gets a great view of the outside.

The table’s also conveniently next to the kitchen, which is basically in two sections; an ‘L’-shaped array of cabinets and wall cupboards which also contains the built-in oven, microwave and grill and a separate island unit with two stools. There’s is also an induction hob and extractor hood above.

All appliances are supplied in the price and include hob, microwave, oven, extractor, hood, wine cooler, integrated dish washer, American style fridge/freezer and an integrated washing machine/dryer. The cabinetry and worksurfaces are of the highest quality – all have soft close mechanisms and are finished in a Shaker style white with brushed aluminium bow handles.

The lateral hallway leads you into the sleeping and bathroom with the first door to the left being the twin-bedded room.

It’s here that you really see what that 20ft of width can offer – the twin beds have plenty of space between (in fact you could probably squeeze a third camp bed in there) and is well appointed with box headboards containing reading lights and no less than three windows  – one being a floor to ceiling in the centre and light, planked walls.

The accent colour is a dark velvety blue which continues the coastal theme and looks fantastic. The kids would really love this room and there probably wouldn’t be many arguments come bedtime!

Tingdene Country Lodge Bathroom Main

Opposite, on the other side of the hall is the family bathroom – another big space. The back wall is half mirrored with a very useful shelf for all those things that tend to accumulate in a bathroom.  The walls are tiled elsewhere in a luxurious Italian style brown marble. The floor is water resistant laminate.  Along one side is a full-length bath with shower and screen and you also get a contemporary low profile button flush toilet and a tall pedestal hand basin. The room is well lit and would be a very relaxing place for a long soak.

Tingdene Country Lodge Master Bed

The master bedroom is the piece de resistance of the Country Lodge. A large, square space, it takes up one corner of the back section and features a magnificent king size bed, stylish bedside tables with integrated reading lights and a corner vanity table with drawer, mirror and stool.  Above the bed is a horizontal slit window furnished with a venetian blind. One again the accent colour is deep blue and greys with long curtains hung on poles and heron motif scatter cushions.

Between the bedroom proper and the en-suite is a walk through dressing room with wardrobes, hanging space and shelf storage. As is the new style, the clothes hanging space does not have any doors which gives both easy access to the clothing but also the impression of even more space.

Tingdene Country Lodge En Suite Bathroom

The en-suite itself is yet another spacious room – not the usual small, cramped corner en-suite for owners of the Country Lodge! No, here you get a proper, full sized curved glass shower cubicle, a toilet and hand basin with storage shelf all in a smart, fully tiled and functional space. There’s plenty of room here to swing a towel – no bashed elbows when drying yourself off after showering!
