2020 Pemberton Langton static caravan

A holiday caravan with a separate lounge

The Pemberton Langton is one of only a few static caravans with a lounge that’s totally separate from the kitchen. The two areas are divided by white sliding doors with frosted glass inserts. They slide into the walls on each side oa wood-finish archway.

Feature shelving in glass and wood, backed by grey textured wall covering, means that these walls are a significant design feature of the lounge, together with the focal point white fireplace which houses a glowing, log-effect electric fire.

The vaulted ceiling is lined with beautiful whitewashed planking and lounge furniture is a settee and two matching armchairs upholstered in plain cream. An additional, smaller armchair is an optional extra, upholstered in subtle mauve-grey sheen fabric with a geometric pattern in the weave.

It creates a stunning contrast to the settees and melds nicely with the other colour interest. That’s dark, soft green, with a white tree pattern, for the curtains to the front windows and cushions. The whole colour fabric combination is luxurious and very pleasing. The four side windows have Roman blinds and pelmets edged with the same dark pastel green satin fabric. The high quality of all of the fabrics is obvious.

The dining kitchen is a well-designed, practical and appealing space. There’s an Lshaped configuration of units, with the fridge freezer and fiveburner hob, microwave, washer-dryer, dishwasher, oven and grill all integrated.

A skylight window makes sure the kitchen is a light, bright space.

Grey is the colour theme of the kitchen; plain grey cabinet doors and grey and white marble work surfaces and splash back. The island unit breakfast bar houses a cabinet containing three drawers, plus a bin which pulls out on runners – and a rise-and-fall power unit with three mains sockets and two USB points; very neat!

The dining table sits by a deep window, trimmed with curtains that match those at the front of the lounge.

What makes this area special is that the window reaches up into a cathedral window shape in the roofline, adding dimension and interest to this stylish and charming Pemberton static caravan.

We had entered through the patio doors at the front but we could have walked into the Pemberton Langton through the side entrance, which leads from the side directly into the kitchen – directly, yes, but not quite. There’s a small vestibule area divided from the dining area by a wall with an inset angled louvred panel. The effect of this panel is to retain the open feel while still creating a separation from the entrance area; clever and neat!

On the side of the vestibule is an alcove containing an upholstered seat. Cabinets above and below are ideal for shoes. A tall cabinet containing three coat hooks sits alongside. All very practical.

A white door with the same frosted glass panel as those between the lounge and kitchen leads to the bedroom area. There’s a twin bedroom here with a goodsized wardrobe and a suite of cabinets and shelves above the bed heads.

A television bracket and connections are on the wall above one of the beds.

The main bedroom in the Pemberton Langton is spacious and luxuriously appointed, with a tall bedhead, upholstered in taupe suedeeffect fabric, and a large dressing table with a stool upholstered in fine brown fabric which has a snakeskin effect in the weave.

Shelves above the dressing table, a large wardrobe and bedside cabinets together provide plenty of accommodation

Unusually, the ensuite in the Pemberton Langton has a bath, rather than a shower. There’s an over bath shower, and a suite of cabinets give good hideaway opportunities

The walls around the bath are finished in a gorgeous rock effect; more luxury!

Back into the corridor of the bedroom-bathroom area, we find a shower room.

Rockeffect tiles are the stunning feature here – in the shower cubicle – and more style arrives in the form of a grey panel on the wall where the washbasin sits, with cabinet underneath and mirrored cabinet above.

Nice touches are the positioning of the towelrail directly above the radiator, so that towels will dry quickly. In the ensuite there’s a towel loop above the radiator.

The Pemberton Langton sits on a pre-galvanised chassis and buyers can opt for residential specification; enhanced insulation is among the features of this optionPlus, there’s a choice of external cladding finishes.

A wine cooler is available as an optional extra, as are curtains instead of the Roman blinds in the lounge, a shower instead of the bath, and three-foot-wide beds in the twin room.

Verdict: The Langton is a real home from home, thanks to its separate lounge. We love the ottomanstyle long unit that sits in the centre of the room to double as extra seating or a footstool. We love the skylight window in the kitchen, the clever colour combination osoft, dark green and cream, the booster cushions on the settee as well as scatter cushions for added back support, the large bedroom, the island unit with riseand-fall socket unit…

Plus points: The separate lounge, the skylight over the kitchen, the ensuite with a bath and the rise-and-fall power unit in the breakfast island unit.

Minus points: There’s nothing not to like!

In-a-nutshell: The Langton is a luxury holiday caravan stacked with excellent features and pleasing home-from-home layout.
