2021 Omar Kingfisher lodge review

The Omar Kingfisher lodge was originally launched in 1992 and was heralded as the first ‘luxury lodge’. This latest version carries that flame forward. The 2021 Kingfisher is stunning, stylish and luxurious.

This top of the range lodge exudes luxury and is packed with practicalities, noticeable from the moment you step inside.

Enter the new, 2021 Omar Kingfisher and you’re in a hallway, or is it a utility room? Actually, it’s both. There’s a huge floorspace on which to place muddy shoes on mats, coat-hooks and a utility area with a large sink and, beneath it, the washing machine and cupboard storage.

And here’s the first of the Kingfisher styling notes: the sink has a professional kitchen-style, flexible-hose rinser tap, allowing you to hose down and wash across the whole sink and drainer area.

To the left is the open-plan kitchen/living space, which is not only hugely spacious, it’s filled with natural light. The entire front of the Omar Kingfisher is either windows or patio doors, above which are more windows, following the line of the vaulted ceiling.

Next to this is the lounging area, with three and two-seater settees, a delightfully stylish large oak coffee table complete with storage drawers, and the feature of the lounge: its combined media zone and fireplace.

Those words don’t do it justice, however, as this is a special style feature, mantlepiece, electric fire and TV stand all in one. It’s a panelled, boxed-out unit with a piece of oak running across it.

Set into the centre of the boxed-out unit is the electric fire and, below it, in an oak-lined recess, is plenty of storage for all your media related items and connections to the TV points on the wall above.

The other half of the living area is devoted to the kitchen and dining table. The kitchen is U-shaped but with a difference. The end of one side curves back into the centre to form a natural cut-off from the rest of the room, and also hugely increasing surface space. The surface is an aged oak finish, full of natural marks and colours which is perfectly contrasted by the high-gloss cupboard doors and drawers.

So glossy in fact that, you can see dozens of angled reflections of the LED lighting that are inset below these cupboards at floor level.

There’s a dual oven, allowing you to cook two things at two different temperature settings, a five-burner hob and the sink, like the one in the utility room, has a rinse-head tap.

Hidden away behind the soft-close cupboards is the dishwasher and fridge-freezer.

Beneath the top cupboards are recessed LED strips which illuminate the stone-effect tiling behind; the tiling is edged by chrome strips and above it, in the centre of the kitchen, is the steel and glass extractor fan. Everything about this kitchen just screams luxury.

Between the kitchen and the patio doors is the dining table, a beautiful two-plank oak table with edges that follow the natural line of the oak, making it not completely straight. It’s subtle – and yet another example of the lengths that Omar has gone to, to make sure this is the epitome of top of the range.

The four dining chairs are curve-backed grey fabric with dark wood legs that match those of the table. Comfortable and supremely stylish.

It’s easy to be enraptured as we were by the Kingfisher’s living space. The main bedroom, though, is equally impressive. This is not just a bedroom, it’s a large dressing room and an enormous shower room.

To call it a mere en-suite would be disrespectful.

This is a full-on luxury shower room, with plenty of space and luxury features. Arguably chief among these is actually the mirror above the basin. A frame of light is built into the glass, giving a bright and also flattering light.

The shower cubicle is, again, luxuriously large. There’s an extractor fan to make sure steam makes a speedy exit. The shower gives you two options; an overhead rain shower or a directional rise.

Between the bedroom and the shower room is a dressing area that’s almost as large as many a second bedroom. A wall of wardrobes, plus six drawers in the dressing table opposite, will hide away all of your holiday apparel and more besides.

More mirror luxury is here, too, above the dressing table – there’s no excuse for leaving the Kingfisher without checking up that your outfit is perfect!

Two of the features we like so much in the shower room are also in the bathroom: an extractor fan and a mirror with inset lighting. There’s a shower over the bath and a screen too, to make sure water is confined.

The second bedroom has twin beds, a wardrobe and a chest of three drawers. All you need is here and, like the rest of the Kingfisher, there’s a feeling of luxury.

Verdict: If you’re looking for a top-end leisure lodge packed with luxury goodies and also lots of space, the Omar Kingfisher has it all and more besides. Bright lights set into the bases of the kitchen units, high-arched professional-kitchen rinser taps, the use of delightful aged-oak in the décor and a fireplace/media centre that’s nothing short of awesome.

The 2021 Omar Kingfisher has the word luxury running through it like the lettering in a stick of rock!

Plus points: The fireplace media centre. The large amount of space in the entrance-utility room. The double oven. The two-plank oak table

Minus points: There’s nothing not to like!

In a nutshell: Packed with style and practicality, the 2021 Kingfisher is a luxury lodge with splendid features including a double oven. And there’s a Kingfisher to suit a wide variety of size needs.
