2021 Swift Burgundy static caravan

Swift came into the holiday caravan market nearly 17 years ago and the Burgundy was one of its first static caravans to be launched.

As you would expect, the Swift Burgundy has come a long way since then and has even become a much sought after range for buyers wanting value and the latest in style.

It’s also a range of holiday caravans used for some park owners to have extras added as a “special edition” to that park. So, does the 2021 Swift Burgundy still cut it?

The Burgundy offers up to five layouts, which have proved popular with buyers wanting practicality. Here we looking at the 36ft x 12ft two bedroomed layout that’s built for four but can sleep up to six.

Built on a Fusion galvanised chassis the Swift Burgundy also boasts bonded sandwich wall construction for extra strength, an apex roof, white UPVC double glazed windows, domestic guttering and wood grain textured aluminium sides in beige. It looks good considering it’s not an expensive static caravan.

Inside the Swift Burgundy is fully modern with its choice of colour schemes for 2021. The front lounge area, with optional French doors, allows light to flood in and has a “Botanical” colourway.

Seating consists of an L-shaped six seater built-in settee in practical neutral colours. There’s a fireplace with an electric fire in the lounge, plus a TV cabinet with cupboard storage and handy coffee table.

The dining area is also part of the lounge, which has a L shaped four seater settee seating with free standing table. It could prove a little crowded to use if the two stools are used to by extra people. Four eating at this table should be fine though.

The kitchen offers some excellent worktop and cupboard storage. It’s nicely finished off with Shaker style cupboard doors in a light “matt Mussel” colour. There’s also some overhead cupboard storage too, plus an oven/grill and four burner hob with extractor fan. Swift also include an integrated microwave, oven and separate fridge / freezer and it’s all very practical layout for preparing meals.

LED lighting is used as throughout the Swift Burgundy. The kitchen area is good on floor space which means helpers won’t get in each others way too much!

From a small hallway the twin bedroom is on the left, where two beds are placed in an L shaped configuration, and come complete with headboards.

It’s a spacious bedroom with green tones and also comes with a good-sized wardrobe with two useful drawers and shelving. Plus a handy mirror is fitted and overhead shelf storage. Mains sockets also have USB points fitted for essential charging those electronic devices!

Opposite the twin room is the main bathroom with free standing hand basin, loo and walk-in shower. This room works quite well and floor area is a not as tight as some static caravans with this body length and width.

Storage comes with a few shelves and also a wall-mounted mirrored cabinet. There isn’t a razor point as standard in the main bathroom, which seems a little penny pinching.

All the Burgundy users will need to share the shower, because the master bedroom’s en-suite only has a loo and hand basin. But it’s a good sized shower cubicle and a side window and extractor fan will allow steam to escape.

The main bedroom offers a sizable, practical room. The double bed is on legs, so room underneath to store suitcases and bedding boxes and it has a super comfy, luxury Duvalay mattress, exclusive to Swift.

There’s overhead storage, with two small cupboards and shelf, plus bedside shelves and double wardrobe too. It’s comfortable and spacious and although there’s no dressing table, there is a large mirror with built in shelf and drawer with a stool to compensate for this.

Verdict: The Swift Burgundy is a great holiday caravan for those wanting great value. It does feel a little entry-level in places, such as the lounge, where storage is restricted to the TV cabinet. But overall, for the cash asked it’s still a force to be reckoned with.

Plus points: Microwave and fridge freezer fitted as standard in a practical kitchen, generally good value.

Minus points: French doors and shaving point optional, dining area could be a squeeze for more than four, and little storage in lounge area.

In a nutshell: The Swift Burgundy provides plenty of value for its price tag and it well worth checking out if you’re in this price sector and layout you’ll be quite impressed.
