2022 Tingdene Savannah holiday lodge

As you step inside the Tingdene Savannah’s kitchen-dining-lounge area from the front patio-doors entrance, the first impression is that it seems more like a studio apartment than a holiday lodge.

And it has wow-factor in spades. The total separation between this region and the bedroom area, though, conjures thoughts of a bungalow. The Tingdene Savannah is a very clever creation. And the more we explored it, the more we loved it.

The side entrance door leads straight into the bedroom area. A white panelled door leads from this totally separate area to the stunning kitchen-dining-lounge area that has a meld of industrial chic, stark modern styling and touches of rustic design.

In this video we take a look inside the all-new Tingdene Savannah holiday lodge:

The kitchen is of an ingenious design, with all of the appliances arranged in a near-galley configuration. Where it cleverly breaks away from the galley mould is that the dining table is alongside the hob and oven area, adjoining it, but at a lower level, making serving food incredibly easy.

The hob has four burners of differing sizes, each with its own cast iron pan rest, sitting on a black glass base. The pan rests remove easily for cleaning. A large cylindrical extractor fan is directly above the hob, styled on rather industrial lines, in stainless steel. The oven-grill is below the hob.

Opposite, close to the sink, is a dishwasher and, at the end of the suite of cabinets and shelves, is fridge-freezer. (There’s no microwave!)

Storage comes in the form of two large cabinets in the sink area, plus four drawers and two smaller cabinets on each side of the oven-grill. Gloss grey units, matt grey panels in a large tile effect arrangement behind the sink, and wood surfaces for the working area and table present an eclectic mix of natural and super-modern styling.

The three large, dark grey shelves, arranged in a staggered formation, look pleasing in design as well as being practical; perfect for mugs, glasses and kitchen essentials that are always in use, like salt and pepper, olive oil and much more.

The suede-upholstered dining chairs are really comfortable – and the cone-shaped glass pendant light over the table is simply stylish.

The Tingdene Savannah has an extraordinary way of segmenting the lounge from the dining table. It’s part wall, attached to the end of the table. At first glance its purpose seems not obvious, but then you go into the lounge area, and all becomes crystal clear.

This is a media wall, with two mains sockets, an aerial point and a USB charging port. The wall is of an ideal width for a television; all you need is a bracket for it.

An armchair upholstered in a tweed fabric is supportive and comfortable. Opposite is the three-seater settee, in a cream fabric that has a subtle herringbone pattern, with bolster and armrest cushions. Four crushed velvet scatter cushions inject a luxurious style element. Sliding patio doors lead out to your decking.

Wall colours in the Tingdene Savanah we reviewed were cream and warm-pinkish-mushroom. (The Savannah is available in a choice of interior décor colours.)

The cream side walls are of horizontally aligned planking and the mushroom-coloured walls at each end of the room are clad in planking that is vertically aligned.

The lounge-kitchen-dining area décor is a mélange of many style genres, from industrial chic to the luxurious tactile velvet cushions, with the oak flooring and wooden surfaces bringing in a natural feel. The oak flooring stretches along the corridor, past the side entrance door, to the bedrooms, which are carpeted in a pale grey shade.

This Tingdene Savanah lodge had an unusual feature: a bunk bedroom. It’s one of the layout options offered by Tingdene Homes; the standard layout has twin beds (as shown in the floorplan below). The bunk room is spacious and charming – and it’s directly opposite the lodge’s entrance, with the luxurious double room to the left, at the back of the lodge.

The bunk room has simple, modern styling. The bunks are constructed of pale grey wood. The wardrobe is dark grey, and the walls follow the mushroom and cream planking style of the living area. There are five mains sockets plus a USB port and an aerial socket in this room.

The bathroom sits between the two bedrooms. There’s a shower over the bath and a chrome-finished towel warmer on the wall close to the bath. Dark wood wall boarding clads the bath area and a large mirror sits above the washbasin.

Entering the main bedroom, you feel as if you’re stepping into a cosy retreat. It’s a relaxing room with charming décor of mushroom, cream and dark grey, with gorgeous copper pendant lights on each side of the bed. Floating shelves are on each side of the bed and also in the wardrobe area.

A small dressing-wardrobe area is in a corner, with shelves, a rail and a stool. There’s no door on this area, though, so clothes are on view.

Alongside this is a beautiful en-suite shower room, with a huge towel warmer. The shower area is clad in the same wood finish as the area above the bath. And the walls are the warm pinky mushroom shade that’s a theme running through our Tingdene Savannah review model.

Verdict: Whoever thought that a full-height, part-wall in the centre of a room would work? It does. And it’s attractive, in a functional, almost industrial way. This is one of the defining features of the Tingdene Savannah holiday lodge. On one side, the wall adjoins the dining table. The other side, facing the lounge, is the place for a television. The result is that the kitchen-dining space and the lounge each have their own identities.

Tingdene offers décor options for this model. Buyers can specify layout changes, too. Our review example, with bunk beds, makes it one of a very few holiday lodges with bunks – we love this idea, and we know kids will, too!

Plus points: Close proximity of the main kitchen surface and the table; serving food would be super-easy. Gorgeous styling in the shower rooms. The main bedroom is a luxurious, cosy retreat. And the bunk beds!

Minus points: No door on the wardrobe-dressing area. Absence of a microwave.

In a nutshell: An apartment-style holiday lodge with a cleverly designed kitchen-dining area and a mixture of many décor styles that work together superbly to create a stunning lodge.
