Carnaby’s Bayview static caravan range is designed for value – especially for families – and it looks like the 35ft x 12ft two bedroomed model will be a popular choice in their line-up.
Carnaby has never been a mass producer of holiday caravans and lodges, the company has always built quality models that have attracted a loyal following over its 50 years of operation. Although they can claim to have been around longer under another brand name – Apollo Caravans from 1972 – later moving from its Hull-based factory to Carnaby Trading Estate and rebranding as Carnaby Holiday Caravans.
Here we look at the new Bayview range and have picked out the 35ft x 12ft two bedroomed model.
Based on family demands, the Carnaby Bayview offers value for money with a few optional extras to give customers a choice of additions they might want to include, such as front patio doors.
The Carnaby Bayview’s exterior is in aluminium and full guttering and downpipes are fitted as well as an exterior light by the side entrance door.
Step inside the Bayview and although not an entry level static caravan it does have a few tell tale signs that it’s aimed at the value-for-money sector.
The lounge sports a built-in four seater settee and a simple TV cabinet unit, complete drawers and an electric fire.
An extra touch of storage is the wall unit placed towards the front corner. Sadly there isn’t a coffee table or a free-standing armchair here.
The kitchen is a neat, confined area with a good run of worktop and overall storage too. Although a microwave oven isn’t fitted standard one can be easily added below a wall unit as an option.
There’s a gas oven with a gas hob and a built-in extractor fan and a fridge and separate freezer is part of the standard fit equipment.
Opposite the kitchen is a dining table complete with four chairs next to the side window. The décor is modern, with a blend of greys and light wood, which should please most buyers.
The Carnaby Bayview’s main shower room offers a loo and walk-in shower with sliding door, with the toilet in a corner to maximise the space.
It’s quite a plain bathroom – but practical – and a wall cabinet provides storage for the necessary beauty and cleaning products.
The twin bedroom opposite comes with two adult sized beds with storage cupboards and shelves above the beds. The occupants also have a decent sized wardrobe with good hanging space and by its side a mirror with a shelf below.
The master bedroom provides a double bed with bedside cabinets and a large, grey upholstered headboard. There isn’t a built in dresser but a chest of drawers with a mirror could double up as such.
Built in wardrobes offer great storage and the light wood finish matches the rest of the bedroom’s furniture.
This room is light and airy, helped by a quite large side window, which also adds ventilation. The main bedroom also comes with an en-suite loo and hand basin but it’s a welcome edition and is also fitted with a mirror and shelf.
Verdict: The Carnaby Bayview static caravan is aimed at families and those wanting a good value new caravan. The Carnaby quality is evident even in this lower end range and for those wanting a value for money holiday caravan with practical touches and space, plus an interior that’s modern but not over stated the Bayview fits this criteria well.
No coffee table is a little penny pinching and the chassis is painted but the corner steadies are galvanised.
Plus points: Good kitchen and bedrooms, large and comfortable lounge area
Minus points: No coffee table or microwave as standard
In a nutshell: The Carnaby Bayview doesn’t pretend to be an upmarket holiday caravan but then the price reflects this. Overall, it’s a good package and alternative to what’s on the market from this well-established manufacturer.
