There are two stunning areas of the Regal Autograph static caravan – and they’re stunning for two very different reasons.
One is the main bedroom, stunning for its luxury ambience and also for its excellent storage capability. The other outstanding element is the dining suite. And that’s down to its design.
On one side of the table are two chairs; straightforward. On the other, a high-backed, deeply upholstered seat of a design almost reminiscent of an ancient church pew, only a whole lot more modern – and comfortable.
Three big cushions make sure you’re cosy while you eat. And removable armrests, held in place by Velcro, are there to add to the comfort, but they can be removed, to maximise on the seat’s width, if three are sitting here.
The top section of the ‘pew’ is composed of five open shelves. The importance of the design of this unit is that it forms a very effective and stylish divider between the Regal Autograph’s dining kitchen and the lounge.
The dining suite sets the tone for the Regal Autograph as a static caravan with innovative styling. And it has an appealing warm accent colour that appears in all areas of the home. That’s terracotta. The two chairs are upholstered in this colour.
In the lounge, the terracotta hue clothes the four cushions, finishes the bases of the curtains and ties them back.
The Regal Autograph is a14ft-wide holiday home, with a vaulted roof, so the lounge-dining area and kitchen have a nicely airy feel.
It’s built to the BS 3632 residential standard of construction and insulation and comes in a claystone vinyl exterior with feature vertical oak cladding. This 42ft-long static caravan is available with either two or three bedrooms; it’s the two-bedroom version that we review here.
Lounge furniture is two super-comfortable sofas, plus a large footstool that can double as extra seating.
The media wall is an intriguing design, with a pelmet top complete with concealed lighting, and slim strips of ridged grey panelling on each side, to frame your television. Cabinets and shelves below will hide away all your media needs. And here, the Regal Autograph’s other salient colour appears; the cabinets are finished in pale matt grey, the same colours as those in the kitchen. It’s smart and it’s modern.
Yet there’s a touch of country classic about the décor. This arrives in the form of a half-panelled wall on the opposite side of the lounge to the media wall. This, too, is finished in grey. The prominent grain of the natural wood-effect cabinetry conveys the country classic idea, too; it has a finish that’s almost aged oak. And there’s a lot of it, so it makes a substantial impact.
A cabinet and shelf unit alongside the half panelled wall has four cabinets and four shelves, arranged diagonally to one another. And on the opposite side is a dresser-style unit with three drawers and three shelf areas.
The Regal Autograph static caravan has clearly been designed with tidiness in mind, with plenty of hideaways for all sorts of holiday paraphernalia; toys, books and much more.
In the kitchen, the strong storage story continues, with a wall of top cabinets and three lower cabinets. A dishwasher and washing machine (an optional extra) are integrated. An extractor fan is set into the base of the cabinets above the hob.
As we leave the day area to discover more of the Autograph’s attributes, we notice the tall radiator finished in white, at the corner of the kitchen that borders the corridor leading to the accommodation sector; it serves as a reminder of this static caravan’s modern style elements.
We’re in the hallway now, where we find a boot seat with a shelf beneath, three double coat hooks, shelves above, and alongside, a coat cabinet containing a deep shelf above the hanging area.
Along the corridor to the back of the Regal Autograph we enter the luxurious bedroom zone. The main bedroom is large, and has a super-kingsize bed, and an amazing amount of storage space.
The bedside cabinets are wide, and each has a drawer. The dressing table contains five drawers, plus three shelves set into an alcove alongside the mirror. And there’s a surprise: mirrored doors alongside the dressing table slide to reveal a walk-in wardrobe. A light comes on automatically when you approach the entrance. It contains shelves alongside the hanging area and an enormous shelf above.
The Regal Autograph’s signature terracotta colour upholsters the bedhead and the cube dressing table stool in a tactile fabric. Even more tactile are the terracotta bed runner and two of the four bolster cushions. These have deep fluffy ridges, adding considerably to the bedroom’s ultra-cosy look.
The en-suite shower room has the slightly aged oak wood teamed with grey styling that we see elsewhere.
The shower room opposite the twin room mirrors the styling of the en-suite.
The twin room, with full domestic width (3ft) beds, continues the terracotta, hessian and grey theme – and also the luxury attribute of the main bedroom.
It continues the big storage theme too, with a large wardrobe incorporating two drawers, and a suite of two double cabinets and three shelves above the beds.
Verdict: This static caravan has style in spades, a warm terracotta shade that has the effect of welcoming you – and one of the most luxurious main bedrooms anywhere in holiday caravans. A good amount of kitchen surface space and cabinets makes the Regal Autograph’s kitchen very practical. And the kitchen’s styling is, like the rest of the Autograph, on-trend and very smart.
Plus points: Lots of storage in all areas. A comfortable dining suite of an innovative design. A super-kingsize bed. Good footwear and coats provision in the hallway
