We recently asked our static caravan community a sizzling summer question: “Do you use a BBQ on your static caravan holidays?” Hundreds of you fired up your opinions, and here’s what you had to say!
Static caravan BBQ poll results…
The results show that barbecuing is a big part of the static caravan lifestyle for many owners. Let’s break it down.
Overall, almost three-quarters of voters told us they use a BBQ on their static caravan holidays (73%). The most popular choice by far was the gas BBQ, with 39% of the votes. It’s easy to see why gas BBQs are the go-to choice for many static caravanners who want to cook and eat outdoors – they’re fast to heat up, simple to use, and cleaner to manage.
John Harris told us he loves using the gas BBQ at his lodge: “It’s great to stand and cook, take in the views and hear other owners comment on the lovely smells,” he commented.
Twenty three percent of voters told us they prefer a charcoal BBQ, holding strong with those who love the smoky, traditional BBQ experience.
Lesley commented: “Love on charcoal at home and at the van.”
Electric BBQs made a modest mark with 11% of the votes, with owners likely valuing their simplicity and suitability for more restrictive site environments.
However, 24% of you said you don’t use a BBQ at all during your static caravan holidays. Whether it’s due to safety concerns, holiday site rules, or simply preferring to cook in the kitchen indoors or eat out, – that’s still a sizeable portion choosing to keep the lid shut!
Nigel West said all BBQs were banned on their site and E. Hardy also commented that their site doesn’t allow charcoal BBQs.
A small group of voters – three percent – told us they’re considering buying a BBQ for their static caravan. If you’re still shopping around, it looks like gas might be a solid starting point! Check out our guide to gas BBQs.
Safety first!
Whichever BBQ you choose, remember to always follow your holiday park’s BBQ rules and safety guidelines. Never use a BBQ indoors, and always let coals cool completely before you dispose of them. You can check out our fire safety guide for tips.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the poll and shared their BBQ habits.
