Could more be done to protect static caravans, lodges or park homes from water and storm damage?

THIS POLL IS NOW CLOSED.

There have been a lot of reports in the news recently about residential homes being destroyed by flood and storm and the same could be said of static caravan and park homes.

Community Poll

In December and throughout the New Year we’ve seen units ripped apart by the torrential weather.

Some were lucky to suffer minor damage, whilst other were completely ripped apart.

To get your take on the issue, this month we’re asking…

Do you think manufacturers could do more to protect static caravans, lodges or park homes against water/storm damage?

Are there manufacturing techniques that could be improved on?

Alternative materials that could be used?

Tell us if you think improvements could be made using the ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ voting buttons below and explain your answer in the comment box below.

  1. Of course theoretically caravans could be built to be more robust, but that would put the price up beyond what was affordable for many of the people for whom a caravan is the perfect way of achieving a holiday home. Most of the time the weather doesn’t merit additional protection, so it’s a compromise. I would, however, advocate spending on solid construction and stability rather than on fancy aesthetic features which serve no real purpose!
