The Stellar Sunrise static caravan reviewed

Stellar Sunrise Static Caravan

The 40ft x 13ft two bedroom Sunrise is the largest caravan in Stellar Statics range. In addition to the two bedroom version reviewed here, a three bedroom version is available.

The company’s name – Stellar Statics Ltd – makes it obvious that its holiday homes do not pretend to be anything other than mobile, i.e. static, caravans. Hence the outside of the Sunrise has nothing to lift it out of the ordinary. It is a basic rectangular box although the corners of the end wall in the lounge area have been angled to prevent it having a bog-standard exterior. The external walls are plastic clad with domestic quality UPVC double glazed windows and entry doors. Other external features worth noting are the pantile roof and sculptured guttering and downpipes.

Stellar Sunrise Kitchen Diner

From the door into the static caravan a short hallway leads to the door to the main bedroom. The hallway then turns left to the daytime living area comprising the open plan kitchen and lounge/dining room. As you go through the door into the kitchen, there is a built-in fridge/freezer immediately on your left, with the U shaped kitchen on your right. This has a good range of cupboards, and plenty of working top space. There is a full oven and a four burner hob above which is a stainless steel extractor hood. A further feature which we very much liked was the wine rack next to the oven and we were also pleased to note that although the walls are not tiled, there is a stainless steel splashback on the wall behind the hob. We should also add that we were very taken by the simulated granite effect sink.

Stellar Sunrise Kitchen

Opposite the kitchen is the small dining area which has a circular table and four chairs. In the adjacent wall is a patio door. The floor here and in the kitchen is vinyl planking whilst the lounge has been carpeted. Furniture in the lounge comprises a pair of two seat settees and a circular coffee table. On the static caravan’s rear wall is the gas fireplace with a TV point above it. Slatted wooden blinds have been fitted to the windows in the end wall whilst curtains have been fitted to the patio door in the dining area. It is also worth mentioning that there is a cantilevered display unit projecting from the static caravan’s rear wall above the working top which separates the kitchen from the lounge.

Stellar Sunrise Lounge Seating

The second bedroom is the first one you come to after leaving the kitchen. It has two divan beds with tall padded headboards which reach up to a row of wall cupboards spanning the width of the room above the beds. Between the beds is an open shelf bedside cabinet with a power point for a table lamp on the wall above it. In the corner, opposite the foot of the bed on the outside wall, is a wardrobe. As elsewhere in the static caravan, lighting comprises a ceiling light.

Stellar Sunrise Lounge Fireplace

Opposite the second bedroom is the shower room which has a rectangular shower cubicle running the full depth of the room. There is also a pedestal washbasin, low level toilet, a ladder towel radiator and an extractor fan.

Stellar Sunrise Bathroom

The main bedroom at the end of the static caravan has a huge double bed forming part of a built-in unit spanning the full width of the static caravan. Either side of the bed is a bedside cabinet above which is a bedside light mounted on the panelling behind the bed. There are two padded headboards which reach up to a row of wall cupboards, whilst to the right is a large triple sliding door wardrobe, one door of which is mirror faced. On the wall opposite the wardrobe is a small dressing table with a cupboard to the right of the kneehole but sadly, no mirror on the wall above the dressing table. A small stool completes the furniture.

Verdict

Let’s not kid ourselves, the Sunrise is a basic entry-level holiday home. But having said that, it does come complete with double glazing and full central heating which we think lifts it above many similar entry-level static caravans. In terms of appliances it has a full oven, extractor hood and a built-in fridge/freezer; in fact about the only item missing which some might consider essential, is a microwave. The shower room and the bedrooms are all of a good standard with plenty of storage space for clothes and other items. So overall, we consider the Sunrise to be very good value for money and a static caravan which will give years of service to its owners.

    1. Hi Mrs Joyce,

  4. Hi do you knowif this is a fully insulated van suitable for residential living all year round please

      1. Ok thank you . Does this mean that the walls are not insulated ? Also has the manufacturer gone out of business as I cant get any contact details …. For all year living can you suggest any makes / models? I was looking at a pemberton knightsbridge 2006… The company selling say its for all year living ? Thanks

        1. Hi Samantha, static caravans built to EN1647 are not as well insulated.
I don’t believe these Stella caravans are manufactured anymore.
Look for holiday caravans or lodges that are built to a residential build specification BS 3632.
If you look through our model reviews by searching “BS 3632” there are many to choose from. Also, some holiday caravans such as the Willerby Vogue can be upgraded to a residential specification.
          Hope this helps?
          Liz
