As such, when leaving your static for long periods of time you should ensure that as many valuables as possible have been removed or hidden from view and the curtains have been left open to show that there is nothing to steal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2776\" title=\"protect the contents of your static caravan from theft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/913685_75530989-380x253.jpg\" alt=\"protect the contents of your static caravan from theft\" width=\"380\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/913685_75530989-380x253.jpg 380w, https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/913685_75530989-100x66.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/913685_75530989-50x33.jpg 50w, https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/913685_75530989.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><em>Keep keys and other valuable items out of view\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also ensure that all windows, doors (including patio or French doors) and skylights have been securely closed and locked, and that any security systems fitted have been engaged.<\/p>\n<p>If you are on holiday in your static caravan but will be leaving for a short period of time then ensure that wherever possible all valuables are hidden away and that items such as car or house keys, credit cards or cash are brought out of the static with you.<\/p>\n<p>The police also recommend that any valuable electrical items such as TVs are marked with your name, postcode and telephone number using a special UV pen (which can be picked up for a few pounds) to help with the recovery of stolen goods. Having this information on items helps Police to return recovered stolen items to their rightful owners.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Fitting extra security<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ensuring that the locks on your static caravan\u2019s windows and doors are working correctly and cannot be easily broken is the first essential bit of security that needs to be considered.<\/p>\n<p>To add further security to your static caravan you can fit a motion sensor or door \/ window contact triggered alarm system which makes noise to alert nearby people to an unauthorised access. However, as already mentioned the majority of break-ins happen when you are away from your static caravan, meaning you are relying on somebody being nearby to hear and react to the alarm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2777 aligncenter\" title=\"protect the contents of your static caravan from theft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/compressed-2-188.jpg\" alt=\"protect the contents of your static caravan from theft\" width=\"380\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/compressed-2-188.jpg 380w, https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/compressed-2-188-100x66.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.leisuredays.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/compressed-2-188-50x33.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><em><strong>Are you exposing yourself to theft?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A much more effective alarm system are the monitored varieties which alert the manager of the holiday park that there has been a break-in &#8211; the alerts are sent either by radio wave or mobile phone text technology. Upon receiving an alert the manager can check out what has occurred and take the necessary action.
