+Is it safe to get a quote online?

Getting a quote and buying a static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet policy on our website is extremely safe because of our secure online quote facility.

The security of your personal and financial details is of paramount importance to us, which is why this website uses the most powerful SSL encryption commercially available today. Server-Gated Cryptography (SGC) enables 128 or 256 bit SSL encryption (depending on the browser and host server operating system). This enables us to provide the strongest level on encryption available to you. It works by automatically scrambling the information you send over the web so it is meaningless. Once it arrives, we have the key to de-scramble the words. When you fill in any personal information or payment details, you will be in a secure area of the site.

This can be verified by the 'https://' at the beginning of the web address, and also the padlock symbol which should appear in the bottom right of your browser or the address bar at the top when you begin an online quote on a desktop computer. For more information see our security and privacy policy.

+Do you insure static caravans, chalets and holiday lodges outside of the UK?

We can only insure static caravans, chalets and holiday lodges which are sited on parks within the UK.

The UK includes England, Scotland (including Scottish Islands), Northern Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. The UK does not include Europe, including Southern Ireland, and as such we currently cannot insure static caravans, chalets and holiday lodges situated in the Republic of Ireland.

+What is 'new for old' cover?

'New for old' cover means that we will replace your insured static caravan, lodge or chalet with the most recent new model (or equivalent) if it is damaged beyond economic repair. If you decided not to replace it, you would receive a cash settlement based upon the market value at the time of the incident.

To ensure 'new for old' cover applies, you must insure your holiday caravan and contents at the value it would cost to replace them with new (of equivalent specification), and not at the current value. You should review this value each year at renewal.

'New for old' cover is available on static caravans, holiday chalets and lodges up to 15 years old, unless your park has a block scheme insurance arrangement with us, in which case a different limit may have been agreed - please call us to check.

The alternative to 'new for old' cover is 'market value' cover.

+What is 'market value' cover?

'Market value' insurance covers you for all the same things as 'new for old', but in the event of your holiday caravan being damaged beyond repair (written off) we will pay out your holiday caravan's current market value, instead of replacing it with a brand new model. If your insured contents are also damaged we will replace them in line with their current market value. If you decided not to replace them, you would receive a cash settlement based upon the market value at the time of the incident.

'Market value' is nearly always cheaper than 'new for old', so is a good option if you are looking to save money on your insurance premium.

'Market value' cover is available on static caravans, holiday lodges and chalets up to 25 years old (unless your park has a block scheme insurance arrangement with us, in which case a different limit may have been agreed - please call us to check). We may be able to renew existing customer policies which have reached and exceeded this limit subject to satisfactory claims history and circumstances.

+What are classed as 'personal possessions'?

'Personal possessions' are items you bring from home such as clothes, bed linen and toiletries. These items can be covered on our policy when in, on or about the static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet.

Personal possessions are often covered by your home contents insurance policy. If you are unsure, it is worth checking your home contents policy before paying to insure on our policy as well.

Please note the maximum we will pay per single item of 'personal possessions' is £300. We cannot cover high risk items such as jewellery but we offer a separate policy for gadget and leisure equipment you own such as laptops, tablets, mp3 players, cameras, bicycles, fishing tackle, surfboards, tents and much more.

If you reside in your holiday caravan for the majority of the year (and do not have a separate household insurance policy) please contact us for details of the extended cover we can offer.

+What are 'high risk items'?

'High risk items' are not usually covered under our static caravan, holiday lodge and chalet policy. We can however cover 'high risk items' if your holiday caravan is your main residence and you have no other form of household insurance.

'High risk items' include jewellery, cameras, mp3 players, laptops, mobile phones and pedal cycles. For a full list see our policy booklet. These items have a high insurance risk associated to them, often because they are expensive and either attractive to thieves or prone to damage.

We offer a separate policy for gadget and leisure equipment you own such as laptops, tablets, mp3 players, cameras, bicycles, fishing tackle, surfboards, tents and much more.

You can also often insure high risk items through your home contents insurance policy to ensure they are covered when you take them away from home.

+What items are classed as 'contents' on your static caravan, holiday lodge and chalet policy?

'Contents' are covered under our static caravan, holiday lodge and chalet policy. 'Contents' refers to any items which are used specifically in your static caravan, holiday caravan or chalet, or which are equipment or accessories. This includes things such as gas bottles, pots and pans, gas barbecues, free standing furniture, garden furniture and other things stored inside locked outbuildings and sheds. It also includes items such as televisions and radios, providing they are used solely in the holiday caravan. You should ensure you have included an adequate sum for all your holiday caravan's contents to ensure cover applies to every item. However, 'contents' excludes any items classed as 'personal possessions' or 'high risk items'.

+Why do you need my park's postcode as well as address to give me a static caravan quote?

Your park's location is one of the factors that can affect your static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet insurance premium, as some areas may represent a higher or lower risk than others.

Our system uses the park's postcode to calculate your premium; this means we can't provide you with an insurance quote without your postcode being entered, even if you provide the rest of the address in full.

Please note, we are unable to offer cover in certain postcode areas.

+What are your minimum safety / security requirements?

We require a static caravan or holiday lodge to be anchored down at all four corners or have skirting which goes around the entire base unless it has been agreed otherwise between Leisuredays and your park manager. Please call us if you are unsure.

+What age of static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet can you insure?

We can insure static caravans, holiday lodges, and holiday chalets up to a maximum age of 25 years for individual customers. However, if your park has a block scheme insurance arrangement with us then a different limit may have been agreed - call us to check. We may be able to renew existing customer policies which have reached and exceeded 25 years subject satisfactory claims history and circumstances.

+Do you offer legal expenses cover with your static caravan, holiday lodge and chalet policy?

Legal expenses cover is offered as an optional extra for an additional fee on top of your static caravan, holiday lodge, or chalet insurance premium.

+I live in my static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet all year round, can you insure me?

We understand that some customers use their static caravans, lodges or chalets all year round and just vacate the holiday site when it closes. If this is the case and you do not have a separate home insurance policy, we are able to extend our policy to cater for your needs.

We can provide a range of additional insurance benefits including:

- Increase on the 'personal possessions' single item limit from £300 to £1,500
- Cover for your 'personal possessions' away from home anywhere in the UK
- Emergency accommodation costs up to 30 days for £100 (rather than 15 days for £75)
- Liability cover for damage your family cause as individuals

Your static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet must be sited on a licensed holiday park registered with the local authority. If your park has a residential licence and not a holiday licence then you need to take out our park home insurance instead.

For more details on the range of benefits see the endorsements section of our policy booklet.

+Can my family and friends use my static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet?

We provide cover for any family members or friends to use your holiday caravan provided you are not renting it out for monetary gain.

Family members include: husband, wife, civil partner, girlfriend, boyfriend, mother, father, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, son, daughter, nephew, niece, cousin, brother, sister, and any of the above related through adoption or marriage.

If you are renting out your caravan for monetary gain, please see 'Can I hire out my static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet?'

+Can I hire out my static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet?

Yes hiring cover is an option on our policy.

If you choose this cover option, our hiring cover includes:

  • Malicious damage or theft by any hirer
  • Similar short term accommodation for any hirer staying in your holiday caravan at the time of a claim
  • Reimbursement to you of rent you have lost

A £250 excess (or higher if you have selected a higher excess) applies to any damage caused whilst hired out.

+ How do I make an insurance claim?

Simply call our claims helpline on 01422 501 085 and we will take care of the rest. We understand the need to resolve an insurance claim efficiently and effectively, to enable you to get back to enjoying your holiday caravan as soon as possible.

+Can I protect my 'no claim discount' on a static caravan, holiday lodge or chalet insurance policy?

Protected no claim discount is not available for holiday caravans, static caravans, holiday lodges or chalets.

+Can I get an insurance quote even if I have a poor claims history?

Claims history is a key component for insurers when calculating your premium. Under our static caravan, holiday lodge and chalet insurance policy, we are unable to offer insurance cover if you have made three or more claims within the last three years.

If your park has a block scheme insurance arrangement with Leisuredays, a different limit may have been agreed - please call us to check.

+I am a British citizen, but do not currently reside in the UK, can you still insure me?

Yes we can still provide cover but a correspondence address in the UK must be provided (e.g. a family or park address) and payment for the policy must be made in full (monthly payments are not available to non UK residents). Without a UK correspondence address we are unable to provide cover.

If you live abroad, please provide a UK correspondence address when getting a quote.

+I have just moved / emigrated from another country to the UK, can you insure me?

Yes, we can insure you if you are a UK resident at the time of taking out a policy with Leisuredays.

+Can you cover my hot tub?

Yes, we cover hot tubs under our static caravan insurance policy. If they are fixed in the ground or to the structure they would be covered under the 'structure' section of your policy. If they are free standing and could be removed when the caravan is sold then they would be covered under the 'contents' section. It is your responsibility to make sure your total sum insured value takes into account the value of the hot tub.
