Pemberton Leisure Homes have an excellent choice of holiday lodges and park homes – an era they moved into by the 1990s. Aiming at more comfort for users their static caravans also moved from entry level to upmarket.
They’ve not forgotten their roots and static caravans are still produced with the Avon four model line-up starting at just £35,686 (unsited cost) for the 35ft x 12ft, two-bed.
But the new-for-2022 Pemberton Avon static caravan range doesn’t look like any entry-level leisure home. It’s mounted on a twin axle chassis (not galvanised) and its pitched roof has a pantile finish with full guttering.
Aluminium cladding and full insulation is included and while a front window is fitted, most buyers will opt for the patio doors. Externally, the Avon looks good with the Pemberton Red Rose logo proudly displayed.
Step inside the Pemberton Avon and it has an upmarket feel. There’s a built-in five-seater L-shaped settee with a handy wall-mounted cupboard above. Plus a freestanding accent armchair and coffee table, plus electric flame effect fire with TV wall mount above.
Downlights plus a pendant ceiling light are fitted in this spacious lounge. We also like the colour scheme of dark wood with lighter soft furnishings and accents of black and pastel shades.
The dining area has four pink upholstered chairs as well as two extra stools – so six could dine here if needed. The kitchen is opposite and comes with a good stretch of worktop and decent handle-less cupboard storage too. It feels quite upmarket in style and finish, though the floor space isn’t overly generous.
There are well-placed mains sockets and an oven is fitted with an extractor hood over the hob. There’s also a window for light and ventilation and we’re sure most users will find the kitchen very practical – although you’ll have to pay extra for a fitted microwave and integrated or freestanding fridge freezer!
Our review model was a three bedroomed Pemberton Avon as manufacturers cater for multi-generational holidays. But it means something has to give in a holiday caravan of this 12ft-wide body size.
The first twin bedroom is slightly larger in size than the second twin bedroom. The two beds have a handy small dresser between them and a useful shelf and cupboard storage is fitted to the wall above. There’s a good-sized wardrobe for two people and some extra useful wall shelves.
However, the twin bedroom next door is much smaller room, but it still has a good wardrobe and a decent sized window.
Opposite the twin bedrooms is a central bathroom, which has a walk-in shower fitted and a good-sized hand basin, with a mirrored vanity cupboard above.
The master bedroom has a smart dressing table flanked by two wardrobes with two large drawers underneath.
The double bed has a side dresser at either side and just about enough space to climb in! There’s a large side window allowing natural light to flood in, and helping to create an airy feel.
Again, a modern pendant ceiling light is fitted and fixed reading lights at each side of the bed allows for more subtle lighting. The bedroom also comes with an en-suite loo and hand basin, plus wall mounted cabinet and mirror.
Verdict: The Pemberton Avon is a solid built static caravan with a spacious lounge. It packs a lot into its 12ft width, but means narrow side access to the master bed and the kitchen could feel tight if there are too many cooks!
Plus points: Solid build, quality feel throughout, pleasant spacious lounge area.
Minus points: Master bedroom is tight on access around bed; Small kitchen for six people
In a nutshell: The Pemberton Avon static caravan might get overlooked by those who think that the manufacturer only builds lodges and park homes, but it’s definitely worth a peek.
