2024 Sunseeker Thornton static caravan

Sunseeker is a name that’s got a 50 year heritage. Built by Hull manufacturer Prestige, by 1975, the company also made park homes naming them Homeseekers.

Sunseeker were popular holiday caravans in the 1970s, with value for money being a big draw and up to the minute style. The name wound up in the late 1980s but Sunseekers dating back to the late 70s could still be seen on holiday parks.

Over the last few years the Sunseeker brand has been redeveloped and one of the latest models for 2024 is the Thornton. This is a static caravan that offers the blend of a modern yet traditional interior design and comes in two widths – 13ft and 14ft.

Here we look at the 13ft wide Sunseeker Thornton static caravan and found it a very agreeable.

The exterior is well finished with full double glazing; front patio doors, a large front roof overhang with integrated LED lighting and a distinctive grey front panel, plus a galvanised chassis.

The interior décor of the Sunseeker Thornton is a bright and cheery, with pastel colours for the kitchen units and plain but attractive styled doors and cupboards.

The lounge is comfortable with two light coloured settees arranged around a large fireplace with an electric fire for those cosy nights in. There’s also a moveable cabinet with shelving.

An off cream finish in the living room keeps it bright but there are no side windows – just the front patio doors. A small window would have allowed extra ventilation.

The dining table for four sits behind one of the sofas and follows on into the kitchen.

This traditional yet modern kitchen has lots of storage space as well as work surface. There are integral LED ceiling lights but as in the lounge area, a pendant light fitting with three bulbs allows for good night illumination.

The kitchen boasts a SMEG built-in microwave and gas hob with five burners and integrated fridge freezer. There are large floor to ceiling windows on both sides allowing in lots of natural light as well as added ventilation.

We loved the pastel blue colours of the doors which contrast well with the wooden coloured worktops and parquet style flooring.

A large side cabinet/dresser adds a traditional country cottage touch and a wine fridge and dishwasher complete this modern fitted kitchen.

From here there’s a side hallway to the side entrance door, which keeps the living quarters totally separate.

The twin bedroom is on the left which has a padded seat, mirror and built-in table shelf between the beds. It’s small but perfect for children and has a neat pastel coloured wardrobe opposite the bedroom door.

Opposite the twin room is the main bathroom, featuring a walk-in shower, a hand basin and loo. It’s all very practically laid out.

Storage comes in the way of a large cupboard beneath the hand basin and a side window offers both natural light and ventilation.

Through into the main bedroom and it has a real comfortable feeling about it with a rather natty side window seat with storage below. It’s a great feature, which apart from being comfortable and practical, also provides deep drawer storage too!

There’s a dressing table with a square padded stool, a mirror and two shallow drawers and two small wooden bedside units are placed either side of the bed, as well as wall mounted bedside lamps.

There’s more storage underneath the lift-up bed and it also features the Sunseeker WoW pocket spring mattress.

There’s a compact but practical en-suite here, complete with shower; loo and hand basin, plus a small side opening window.

Verdict: The new Sunseeker Thornton really works well, although we think a few bits, such as shelving in the bedrooms would be a nice addition. But there’s plenty of storage throughout and lots of sockets in the kitchen and lounge area and night lighting is well provided for. The décor is pleasing and the overall finish is excellent too.

Plus points: Bright and cheerful interior, excellent kitchen area, central heating and overall a quality built static caravan

Minus points: Basic dressing table in the master bedroom, no overbed shelving in the bedrooms

In a nutshell: The Sunseeker Thornton is a static caravan that offers a modern yet traditional interior. The Sunseeker name still offers the heritage of its ancestors in value and style. We think it’s a static caravan that’s going to do well.
