New improved insurance cover for static caravan owners

We’ve made some important improvements to the Leisuredays holiday caravan insurance policy – including significantly higher limits to protect you when the unexpected happens.

These changes have been applied immediately and automatically to our customer policies.

holiday caravan cover

Here are two of the biggest upgrades:

  • Up to £20,000 for emergency repairs, debris removal and resiting (previously £10,000)

This cover is vital in the unfortunate event that your static caravan or lodge is damaged.

Firstly, it covers the cost of quick repairs to prevent damage to your caravan from getting worse. Examples of this could be paying to board up a broken window or making temporary repairs to a leaking roof.

And perhaps more importantly, should the worst happen and your caravan is damaged beyond economic repair this element of cover pays to remove and dispose of your damaged unit and to site your replacement unit back on your pitch with all your electric, fresh water, waste water and gas pipes reconnected.

resiting a static caravan

Debris removal and resiting are often very costly, and with inflationary pressures we feel they could now exceed £10,000 in some cases, hence our decision to increase cover.

  • Much stronger ground rent cover – now up to £10,000 or 20% of your sum insured (whichever is greater) (previously £2500)

We know you’ll pay a sizeable amount of money each year in ground rent to your park. If your holiday caravan can’t be used for a prolonged period following an insurance claim, perhaps whilst waiting for vital parts to make repairs, we’ll refund the site fees you have paid for that period.

More improvements across your insurance policy

Alongside these headline changes, we’ve increased a range of other limits to better reflect today’s costs:

  • Personal possessions increased to up to £500 per item (from £300)
  • Locks and keys replacement increased to £1,500 (from £1,000)
  • Frozen food cover doubled to £500 (from £250)
  • Emergency accommodation increased to up to £150 per day for up to 14 days (previously up to £75 per day for up to 15 days)

Clearer, more structured hiring cover

If your holiday park allows you to hire out your static caravan or holiday lodge, and you choose to do so, we’ve also updated how hiring cover works. But please do check your existing Leisuredays policy schedule to see if you have hiring cover in place, as not all customers have it selected.

Instead of being based on a percentage of your static caravan’s value, hiring cover is now provided as clear, fixed limits, including:

  • Up to £150 a day for up to 15 days, paying for alternative accommodation for guests if your holiday caravan can’t be used after insured damage.
  • Up to £1,500 a week (max £10,000 per year) for loss of rental income

No extra cost

The changes were applied immediately and automatically to all existing holiday caravan customer policies from the 9th September 2026.

These changes are all about making sure your insurance keeps pace with real life, giving you:

  • Higher limits where costs have increased
  • Stronger protection for major incidents
  • Clearer, more practical insurance cover
All benefits are subject to underwriting terms, conditions and cover level. Please check your policy schedule to confirm which of your selected cover benefits are affected by these cover changes. Any claims require the payment of your agreed excess. Hiring out cover benefits were previously 10% of the sum insured, meaning previous claims payouts for high-value units could have been bigger.
