2015 Willerby Vogue holiday lodge review

Willerby Vogue - Exterior Main

This 42 x 14, 2-bed version of Willerby’s Vogue lodge (there’s a 42 x 14, 3-bed one as well), is very striking. The first thing noticeable on approach is the enhanced pitch of the roof which is complimented by a side canopied, centrally placed double entrance door and floor to ceiling windows. This gives an impression that this lodge is very different to many standard looking models.

Willerby Vogue - Exterior Side Canopy

Willerby Vogue - Front Canopy

The exterior structure comprises a heavy duty, sturdy galvanised chassis and composite insulated floor, upon which is set the main walls and roof. Energy efficient white PVCu double glazed windows and doors plus high performance rigid vinyl cladding are capped with steel pantile roof sheeting. Refinements such as GRP bargeboards to the front and side canopy and all PVCu guttering and drainpipes ensure a long lasting finish, durability and – importantly – an easy to clean and maintain exterior. There are also lights fitted to the underside of the front and side canopies.

Willerby Vogue - Lounge Long

When you step from the front deck through the huge patio-style doors into the open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area you are immediately struck by the sheer sense of space which the 14-foot width of the Vogue gives. The vaulted ceiling coupled with big windows and light cream walls really make you go ‘wow’! It’s obvious from the start that Willerby has used premium materials, fittings and furnishings on the Vogue and these all add to the impression of quality and refinement.

Willerby Vogue - Lounge Side

A large three-seater sofa is to your left, surrounded by big timber shelves and low cupboard units – plenty of space for books, ornaments and knick-knacks. Integral twin wall lights on the wall behind the sofa will be useful for reading and the pouffe-style ottoman footstool makes TV watching comfortable. The aforementioned TV is directly opposite and sits on a low unit accommodating the satellite box and DVD player.

Willerby Vogue - Fire and TV

To the left of this is a stylish fireplace with over mantle and electric fire with a large mirror above. Cushions and blinds are in a contrasting grey with peach patterning and look good against the beige carpet and grey furniture giving an overall impression of opulence to the lounge.

Willerby Vogue - Kitchen

Willerby Vogue - Pop Up Socket!

The kitchen is separated from the lounge by a wide unit. On the lounge side of this are cupboards and shelving whilst on the kitchen side are food storage units and a set of drawers. Into the sandstone coloured countertop is set a four-burner gas hob. An unusual circular chromed shape is also positioned here. Press it, and up pops a power socket and USB port! Very stylish. The worktops all round here are wide and very spacious. Opposite is a built in double capacity oven and grill and an integrated washer/dryer and microwave. A white sink unit is in the centre of the kitchen with a useful window behind.

Willerby Vogue - Kitchen Details

A downdraft extractor fan, smart power sockets and little touches like glass fronted doors add a designer feel to the Vogue’s kitchen along with the two tone cupboard doors and double roof light. On the opposite wall sits a simple dining area with table and four chairs near the central canopied entrance doors.

Willerby Vogue - Twin Beds

A door from the kitchen leads to the Vogue’s sleeping accommodation. The first room on the left is the second, twin-bedded room. Once again, the opulent theme is carried through with 3ft single beds, upholstered headboards and luxury light lilac bedding with scatter cushions. A tiny central table/shelf is set between the beds and there is also a small wardrobe with drawers to one side and over-bed cupboards for clothing. Sockets, lighting and a TV point complete the scene.

Across the corridor is the door to the main ’family’ shower room. This comprises a walk-in shower, flushing loo and handbasin. Behind this is the unit containing the boiler for the lodge.

Willerby Vogue - Master Bedroom

Willerby Vogue - Dressing Unit

The master bedroom is, as usual, the one at the rear end of the lodge. This one, however, has a lot packed into it! It features an unusually angled double bed across the one corner with windows on both sides allowing light to flood in. Bedside tables with free standing lights and cupboards give useful storage as does the bed itself which lifts up to reveal more space; ideal for spare bedding.

Willerby Vogue - Walk In Wardrobe

On the two bedroom Vogue we reviewed, there was a walk in wardrobe with plenty of hanging space for two people. A mirrored dressing area and stool is at the end of the bed and – a real touch of luxury, this – a remote controlled TV riser unit (TV not included) which can be operated from the bed!

Willerby Vogue - En Suite

In the opposite corner to the bed, a door leads into the en suite with smart wainscotted bath with integral shower and sliding door, pedestal handbasin and dual flush toilet. It goes without saying that panel radiators are positioned at appropriate points throughout the Vogue.

Verdict
In the Vogue, Willerby has produced a holiday lodge with a real wow factor. As soon as you step inside you are aware of the high standards and quality both in the overall design and the fixtures and fittings supplied. There are a few optional extras such as the ever-popular Canexel cladding and vinyl options for the outside and such things as a gas fire and De Luxe pack with wine cooler and extra comfy mattresses. The Willerby Vogue would be a good choice for those looking for something a little bit special in a lodge.

  1. Very impressive and up to the usual standard you expect of a Willerby static/lodge, but I’m not sure I like the idea of the gas hob backing onto the lounge with no barrier inbetween.

    1. Hi,
It has a a designer downdraft extractor that comes up from the worksurface space behind the hob.
      Perfectly safe.
We have a Vogue we are selling I’m Gloucestershire.

  2. We own a superb a 2005 Willerby Vogue on the Foxhouse Park site on Long Lane, Scorton. As we’ve been more than satisfied with our present model it would be very rude of me to say that we wouldn’t be interested in this latest model.

  3. Nice but …. Who designed the kitchen , not someone who cooks I feel . Hob should be by/over the oven to stop you walking backwards and forwards with hot pans etc . Also the controls for the hob are on the wrong side ? Burnt arms I feel !! , and no splash guard to stop little ones being burnt in the lounge …

    1. You should go and take a look at the real thing. These pictures don’t do the lodge justice. As for the splash guard, there is a built in downdraft extractor that rises out of the rear of the hob work surface, enough to provide plenty of protection from splashes to anyone close enough in the lounge area.

      1. I have seen the unit and it is impressive , but they should talk to previous owners of the vogue, they live in them , and little things make it easier , and sometimes a lot Safer .

    2. There is plenty of working space next to the hob and the controls are at the front of the hob nit sure why you think they are at the side

  4. We have the last model and would dispute the quality of fitting and fixtures ours is just over 3 years old we have had to replace the fire which just stopped working!no one was interesteppd in coming out to repais or even look at it. We have had several window handles replaced have been waiting over 6 months for repair of the showers over the bath ,the first time that someone came to fix it they bought the wrong model!! The multi electric light switch in the kitchen is broken still waiting for repair. The back light behind the tv backboard hasn’t worked for 18 months. The central hob burner didn’t work after a willoughby company service. So I would say to any prospective buyer look very hard at the quality! And compare very closely with the competition.
