The Elite is the newest addition to the Pemberton caravan range – and it’s the only one that’s built to EN 1647 holiday caravan standard; all of the rest are built to residential standard of construction.
Buyers, though, can upgrade an Elite to residential specification BS 3632 if they wish. This includes enhanced insulation and a higher level of soundproofing.
The Pemberton Elite static caravan is made with affordability at the forefront of its appeal. Yet Pemberton tells us: “There’s no compromise on style or design. Expect the same high-quality fixtures and fittings found across the entire Pemberton collection.”
We visited the Pemberton showground to see how this has been achieved…Our review model is the 38ft x 12ft two-bedroomed Pemberton Elite. In this video we take a look inside:
An overview: It has a double bedroom spanning the whole width of the unit, with an en-suite toilet and washbasin. A twin bedroom is forward of it, with a shower room opposite. The lounge is almost square and has two large sofas. The kitchen-dining room is almost as large as the lounge, with kitchen units forming an L-shape. And there’s an open-plan feel about the entire lounge-dining-kitchen zone.
Now for the details: First to catch your eye is styling. The Pemberton Elite is clearly inspired by nature, with a meld of prominent-grain, rustic wood and a bold leaf and frond pattern in subtle fawn shades for the curtains and cushions.
The first of two wood-effect features in the lounge to catch your eye is the full-height panel on which the flickering-flame ‘fire’, with a bold black glass surround, is mounted, together with a large mirror framed in an elegant pale gold shade, plus a shelf.
Opposite is the second rustic feature – a floor-to-ceiling cabinet that gives you four shelves and a large cabinet beneath.
The sofas are amply sized and comfortable, with squashy backrests and firm, curved armrests. One of the sofas incorporates a pull-out bed.
A television cabinet is in one corner, with a couple of shelves that are ideal for a soundbar or other media equipment.
When you look closer at the Pemberton Elite’s lounge, the rustic wood element of the décor stretches further than furniture. It borders the roof line of the lounge, the top of the part-wall that marks the transition between the lounge and the dining kitchen – and goes on, to outline the tops of the kitchen walls.
As we explore beyond the lounge, it becomes clear that it’s the design theme of the Elite and gives this holiday caravan a charming character.
You step from the cream lounge carpet into vinyl floor covering territory in the kitchen – again with a rustic look; the plank-aligned pattern in the vinyl seems to draw the eyes forward and makes the kitchen look longer than it is.
The plinths and top cabinet casements are also wood. Doors and drawers in dark fawn look super-modern – and there are plenty of them. That’s three deep drawers, four lower cabinets (one of them a large double-doored unit), and five top cabinets.
In addition, there are three shelves set into the top cabinet run, adding as much in aesthetic value as they do in practical terms. One of the lower cabinets contains a fitted bin. The lid opens automatically when you open the door; a nice touch.
On the other side of the kitchen, alongside the door, is the fridge-freezer. The fridge contains a wine rack.
The central heating unit hides away in a large cabinet alongside. Below the heating unit is a large space, ideal, perhaps, for a vacuum cleaner plus a place for shoes as you step in from the outside.
The top of the dining table adheres to the natural, rustic theme. It stands on black hairpin legs (that’s three metal spindles that converge at floor level). The slightly splayed design of the chair legs injects a Scandi look, and the leather-effect seats are both practical (wipe-clean) and comfortable.
The cooker has a four-burner hob, oven and grill, and the stainless-steel chimney-shape extractor fan contributes to the overall chic styling. The splashback is glass, in a sort of pale denim shade. It’s the only colour in an otherwise fawn and wood grain palette and it works perfectly.
More rustic wood – this time doors – leads you down the corridor towards the sleeping sector. Three coat looks on a wooden panel are a nice practical touch at the start of the corridor.
First on the right is the shower room, where you find an on-trend design element – three concrete-effect walls in the shower cubicle. Rustic wood makes an appearance here in the form of a shelf unit with a mirror, set against a mid-grey wall covering.
In the caravan’s main bedroom, which has a king-sized (5ft wide) bed, the natural vibe continues with the headboard, side panels and a unit across the top, of shelves linking two wall cabinets.
‘Floating’ bedside shelves adjoin the side panels. The whole effect is quite stunning, backed by grey wall covering matching that in the shower room.
Alongside the bed is a walk-in wardrobe, with a shelf above the hanging rail and a three-drawer cabinet. The en-suite toilet and washbasin, complete with rustic shelving, is next to it.
At the other side of the room is the dressing table – again in rustic style – and with a simply-styled, upholstered, wood-framed stool. This is a charming bedroom with plenty of floor space and linen-effect wall covering.
In the twin bedroom the rustic theme arrives in the form of a bedhead that’s the whole width of the room, and shelving above, backed by grey wallcovering.
The beds are 2ft 3in wide, so not quite domestic single-bed width. The wardrobe has a shelf above the hanging area and two drawers beneath.
The Pemberton Elite caravan is available in nine sizes, ranging from 28ft x 12ft to 42ft x 14ft. Three of the models have three bedrooms.
Options fitted to our review model include the central heating system and front patio doors.
Verdict: With prices starting from £58,995, the new Pemberton Elite range is designed to appeal to budget static caravan buyers. Yet its enchanting rustic styling and typically-Pemberton high standard of finish give it a quality vibe. It’s well equipped, yet with a wide range of options to enable buyers to up-spec. Its open-plan aspect would have you thinking it was wider than its 12ft measurement. And its rustic design theme gives it a true country retreat feel.
Plus points: Walk-in wardrobe in the main bedroom. Nine sizes to choose from. Spacious dining-kitchen area.
Minus points: The twin beds are 2ft 3in wide; that’s 7in narrower than standard domestic single bed width. The main bedroom does not have an en-suite shower.
In a nutshell: The only Pemberton unit built to EN 1647 holiday home construction standards, the Elite is the latest addition to this manufacturer’s range of static caravans, lodges and park homes.
