Imagine a static caravan that’s actually a studio apartment and you’re getting close to understanding the character of the latest creation from Regal Leisure Homes.
Regal calls the Vista a ‘luxury pod’. It’s unlike any other holiday unit, unique in concept as well as in layout. It is the only one-bedroom static caravan on the market. And with a bathroom that makes a big statement of boutique luxury. Bathroom? Yes, really. The Vista is a first in so many ways. And it’s full of surprises.

You step in through the sliding door that opens up the whole front. A veranda creates enough space for at least a couple of chairs plus a coffee table; you can sit here in shelter from the breeze and rain.
Then you’re straight into the heart of the Regal Vista – and your first surprise. The lounge and the kitchen are one room, with a coffee table (of which there’s more later) in the centre.
A part-wall separates this area from the bedroom in a semi open-plan manner. A television hangs from a bracket within the wall unit. It can be swivelled towards the lounge or the bedroom. So the scene is set for holiday harmony for two, in an environment that has high luxury status.
Now for the details. The walls and the peaked ceiling of the Regal Vista are clad in white vertically aligned panels. The part-wall and the apex of the roof are outlined in pale brown wood-effect.
The sofa, in a simple cream weave fabric, has three cushions, two with a hint of warm pinkish terracotta and one in grey velvet. The visual effect is of homely cosiness. And there’s a hidden secret about the sofa – it pulls out to create an extra double bed.
The coffee table is an outstanding innovation and definitely one of the Regal Vista’s surprises. The top is hinged so that you can fold it back, doubling the surface size. A lever at one side operates a mechanism that raises the table to dining table height. It’s a clever construction.
Yet more surprises: the kitchen provides a combination microwave oven and a two-zone induction hob. There’s an extractor fan, directly above the hob, set into the run of lockers that spans the whole length of the kitchen. And the tap has a flexible arch designed for rinsing items on the drainer and in the sink.
The surface and splashback are grey-and-white marble effect that looks very high-end domestic. A fridge-freezer is within the lower cabinet suite, alongside two cabinets and a drawer. Surface space is on both sides of the sink and to the right of the hob, so is plentiful.
The Regal Vista’s bedroom is a sumptuous haven of luxury. Factors that contribute to that luxury are the enormous padded bedhead and the stylish dressing table with two cabinets, two shelves and a cube stool upholstered in a terracotta abstract pattern.
The ‘floating’ bedside tables (they’re attached to the wall not the floor) and the full-height window blinds that look like tall wall radiators are both statement style points.
As you walk through the bedroom, you’re heading straight for a mirrored sliding door that opens to reveal a large wardrobe. Turn left, and you reach surely the most luxurious bijou washroom anywhere in holiday lodges, pods, or caravans. Definitely one of the Vista’s surprises – arguably the biggest!
There’s an oval bath with corner taps in the style of a freestanding bath. There’s a separate shower that has both a rainfall and a directional rose.
The large washbasin sits on a table incorporating a double-doored cabinet and two shelves. A circular mirror rimmed with bright light is above the basin.
A large towel warmer is finished in matt black, along with the fittings and shower door frame.
The toilet is in a separate area of the bathroom, hidden by a door. This is an awesome bathroom that is the same size as the lounge/kitchen.
At 30ft x 12ft, the Regal Vista is far from large in comparison to most static caravan units. But it packs a punch with its innovative layout and its luxury status.
And there are things you can’t see about the Vista. It has a fully galvanised chassis and a high thermal rating. Its NCC (National Caravan Council) structural thermal rating is 8:1 out of 10. (The higher the number, the better the structural rating.)
Verdict: A totally new concept in static caravan accommodation, the Vista is akin to a studio apartment, yet with the obvious ability to be sited on a holiday park. While Regal calls the Vista a ‘luxury pod’, that word doesn’t quite convey the air of sophistication, space and delightful ambience of the unit. Most people think of the word ‘pod’ as indicating something smaller than the Vista. We think this unique invention sets the foundation for a completely new trend in holiday park accommodation.

In a nutshell: The new one-bedroomed Regal Vista is a first in so many ways. Is it a static caravan? Is it a luxurious pod? Is it a mini holiday lodge? Actually, it’s all of these – and with a superbly luxurious, huge bathroom, a lovely large bedroom and a lounge-dining kitchen that amply ticks all of the practicality boxes. Definitely a trend-setter.
