Do you regularly test your fire safety gear?

Fire safety might not be the most exciting part of owning a static caravan or holiday lodge – but it’s probably one of the most important.

From smoke alarms to carbon monoxide detectors and gas appliances, a few simple checks can make a big difference in keeping you, your family and your static caravan safe.

That’s why we’re asking: Do you test your smoke alarm and other fire safety equipment in your static caravan or lodge?

Why regular fire safety checks matter

Fire incidents in static caravans and holiday lodges are thankfully rare, but when they do happen, they can develop quickly and cause serious damage. That’s why routine maintenance and safety awareness are so important for every owner.

Simple checks like testing alarms and making sure gas appliances are properly maintained help reduce risk and keep your static caravan protected.

A quick safety routine doesn’t take long, but it can make a big difference:

  • Test smoke alarms regularly and replace batteries when needed
  • Check that carbon monoxide alarms are working properly
  • Make sure fire extinguishers and blankets are accessible and in date

  1. IAt the end of last years season I checked my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and it’s a good job I did. Both were supposed to last 10 years but have only lasted six. With unreplaceable batteries I have had to replace both. It looked too complicated to claim on the guarantee, also I wanted immediate replacements. In all honesty, they weren’t expensive and of course it’s a price worth paying. I suppose what I’m saying is – don’t rely on the guarantee!

  2. Worth remembering that all alarms should have an expiry date. This should be checked as part of annual gas safety check and should be replaced if expired

  3. Checking on a regular basis gives me peace of mind, also check the expiry date on my fire extinguisher on a regular basis. I`d sooner be safe than sorry
