The County Retreat from Pathfinder is a new lodge for the season which embraces imaginative design features with a touch of both vintage and modern looks.
Choose whether to enter from the decking with its curved looks, into the kitchen via the stable style door or through the wide doors into the open plan living and dining area, as we did.
A huge L-shaped sofa with masses of scatter cushions is ideal for relaxing. The real feature here though is an upright black glass panel, which is actually the electric fire; it’s stunning!
Behind the living area is the dining area, which has plank effect floor covering, an oval table with six chairs and freestanding vintage style storage units.
The dining area is well positioned with steps down into it the adjacent kitchen. It’s eye-catching with high gloss charcoal coloured cabinetry and well-appointed with an electric oven and grill with a combination microwave above and a wine chiller beneath.
The ceramic hob is beneath an extractor fan and set into rustic style wood-look worktops with a farmhouse style brickwork splash back along the length of the work surface in which are set two round stainless steel sinks. Plinth lighting and a plinth mounted fan heater also feature.
Moving into the hall, there’s an airing cupboard on the right and at the end is the master bedroom, which doesn’t lack in style or design imagination.
A king-size bed is flanked by vintage bedside cabinets and a soft leather chair decorates one corner.
Features of the room include double doors to the exterior and a capacious closet/dressing area, with a leather folding chair. The en-suite shower room is luxurious yet practical with a fully tiled shower enclosure and a half tiled walls around the rest of the room.
Twin beds adorn the second bedroom which has built-in wardrobes and the guest’s bathroom is similar in design style to the en-suite shower room.
The fabrics and décor scheme are country, yet luxurious, with tartan look curtains in the living area and mustard and gray in the master bedroom.
The exterior on the model seen is Canexel.
Luxurious, but not impractical for the discerning customer. May require a large plot and good access for delivery. It needs careful orientation on a pitch as the master bedroom may well call for an easterly aspect while the living area probably calls for a westerly view.
