Owning a static caravan or holiday lodge gives you the freedom to escape whenever the mood strikes. But do you make the most of it all year round, or is it mainly a summer retreat?
We’d love to know how you use your holiday home, and your answer will help shape future tips and seasonal guides here on the Leisuredays blog.
Summer static caravanning or year-round escapes?
For many owners, summer is prime time. Long evenings, warm weather and family holidays make it the perfect season for making memories at your static caravan. It’s also when parks are buzzing, and social calendars are full.

Others prefer the quieter charm of spring and autumn breaks – or even winter caravanning. Fewer crowds, scenic walks and cosy evenings inside can make shoulder-season stays just as enjoyable.

And of course, some owners use their static caravan or lodge all year round, embracing winter weekends, festive breaks and spontaneous getaways whenever they fancy a change of scenery.

Why seasonal use matters
How often and when you use your static caravan or holiday lodge can influence how you look after it.
-
Winter stays might mean thinking about heating efficiency and pipe protection.
-
Summer-only use could need more thorough checks before reopening each season.
-
Holiday-only visits (school holidays and bank holidays) might mean longer periods left unoccupied, making security, maintenance and draining down in between visits especially important.
Understanding your usage habits can help you stay on top of maintenance, reduce the risk of weather damage, and protect your investment.
Insurance that covers you all year round
Whether you mainly visit during the summer or enjoy regular breaks throughout the year, it’s important to have the right static caravan insurance in place.
Leisuredays’ specialist static caravan and holiday lodge insurance is designed to provide protection all year round, offering peace of mind whether your holiday home is occupied, unoccupied between visits, or used across multiple seasons.
We’d love to hear more about how you use your static caravan or lodge in the comments.
