Carnaby Caravans has a firmly established and loyal following, and it’s easy to see why.
While the manufacturer is known for more adventurous models such as the latest Langham, it also excels at producing solid, well-priced holiday homes that appeal to a broad market. From the popular Crown range of the 1980s through to today’s line-up, Carnaby has consistently delivered good value, and the Melrose is very much part of that tradition.
Here, we review the 37ft x 12ft, two-bedroom Carnaby Melrose. So how does it stack up?
Exterior
The Carnaby Melrose static caravan is available in a choice of exterior finishes and colours from the options list. The chassis is painted, with pre-galvanised corner steadies, while practical features include front patio sliding doors, a side entrance door, guttering with downpipes, and LED lighting beneath the roof overhang. Overall, it’s a smart and functional exterior that should suit most holiday parks.
Lounge and dining area
Step inside through the patio doors, and you’re greeted by a spacious and welcoming lounge.
A sumptuous five-seater sofa is complemented by a freestanding corner armchair, creating plenty of comfortable seating.
There’s also a coffee table and an electric fire, with wiring already in place above for a wall-mounted TV.
The light grey colour scheme enhances the sense of space, while generous glazing allows plenty of natural light to flood in. The lounge is fully carpeted and flows neatly into the kitchen and dining area.
Kitchen
The L-shaped kitchen is finished in pale grey, paired with wood-effect overhead lockers. Storage is provided via cupboards and drawers, while several mains sockets – including USB points – add practicality.
Worktop space is usable, although keen cooks may find it a little limited.
A stainless steel sink with a drainer sits beneath an opening side window, while cooking facilities include a gas oven and grill, a gas hob, and an extractor hood. An integrated fridge/freezer is positioned close to the side entrance door alongside the boiler.
The dining area next to the kitchen features a four-legged table and four padded chairs with a distinctive retro, 1960s-inspired design.
Bedrooms and bathroom
A door separates the living space from the sleeping accommodation and main bathroom.
To the left is the twin bedroom, where the two single beds run parallel with a central shelf between them. Overhead cupboards provide extra storage, while a wardrobe is positioned at the foot of the window-side bed.
A wall-mounted mirror with a shelf is ideal for hair drying, and a well-sized window makes sure there’s plenty of light and ventilation.
Each bed has its own padded headboard, with mains sockets conveniently located.
Opposite is the main shower room, which includes a three-quarter-lined shower cubicle, a generous hand basin set into a vanity unit, and a mirrored cabinet above.
The toilet is angled slightly to maximise floor space, making the room easy to use and comfortable for changing.
At the end of the corridor is the master bedroom. The double bed sits close to the window but still has good access on both sides. A large headboard with integrated reading lights adds a hotel-style touch, while bedside cabinets provide everyday storage.
We particularly like the small dressing table positioned next to the walk-in wardrobe, complete with mirror, mains socket, stool and drawer.
The en-suite includes a hand basin and angled toilet, although there’s no shower. While this isn’t a major drawback, storage is limited, and a small wall cupboard would have been a welcome addition for small items.
Verdict: The Carnaby Melrose is a well-proportioned static caravan that delivers plenty for the money. The lounge is spacious and comfortable, with patio doors that add both light and flexibility, while USB-equipped sockets are well distributed throughout. Although the kitchen isn’t especially large, it’s laid out practically, even if worktop space could be more generous for those who enjoy cooking.
The retro-style dining chairs add character, and both bedrooms are a good size with sensible storage solutions. Overall, this is a strong value-for-money offering from a well-established manufacturer.
Plus points: Spacious lounge with comfortable L-shaped seating. Light, modern colour scheme. Good-sized bedrooms and washrooms
Minus points: No storage in the en-suite. Kitchen worktop space could be more generous.
In a nutshell: The Carnaby Melrose 37ft x 12ft two-bedroom model represents solid value from a trusted name. It’s well suited to first-time static caravan owners and those upgrading to a more modern static caravan.
