The Pemberton Rivendale lodge has a layout that is incomparable to any other on the market. That’s because it has two lounges – or a large, main lounge, plus a snug, or a playroom, or a study. So this 20ft-wide lodge gives buyers lots of options and therefore is very much a family lodge.

We’ll start our tour in the room that gives the Rivendale its versatility. Bifold glazed doors open from the lounge into the snug. A room in which to retreat for quiet reading, perhaps, or watching something on an iPad away from the sound of television in the main lounge.
It’s furnished simply, with a sofa, an armchair and a lamp table. And it has an ultra-cosy ambience.
When you have the bifold doors open, this room becomes an extension to the main lounge – ideal if you plan on entertaining.
The lounge and kitchen have a medley of head-turning design features. There are distressed-wood beams, super-modern kitchen units in a dark aqua shade and a spectacular triple pendant light that injects an industrial feel – and it works, magnificently.
The distressed wood beams run between the lounge and kitchen-diner, along the roof and down each side, giving these two areas a feel of separation from one another while still open plan in concept.
The beams also run longitudinally, along the centre of the lodge. Wood plays a major part in the décor, with kitchen cabinet casements that have a reclaimed wood vibe. In the lounge, the floor-to-ceiling panel on which you’d mount your television above the log-effect electric fire, is also clad in wood; this time in ultra dark brown.
The two circular pendant lights play their part in the styling – by injecting warmth in the form of a glossy gold lining that reflects the light from the three candle bulbs that point towards the gold section.
All the tables have plain black frames – that’s the dining table, a large coffee table and a lamp table alongside the ‘fire’, plus a console table. And they all have inlaid patterns, in a geometric design.
The Pemberton Rivendale has a piece of furniture that’s unusual in a lodge: a sideboard. It, too, contributes to the inlaid pattern theme, this time with its doors; the frame is plain black. It sits behind the sofa, emphasising the divide between the lounge and the dining functions of the lodge. This amalgam of styles packs the Rivendale with character.
That goes for the kitchen too – and this is packed with high-end appliances. Like the enormous fridge-freezer with a double-doored fridge atop two freezer drawers and a water dispenser.
Alongside it is a wine cooler – with six shelves, giving a vast capacity.
The cooking arrangements are a five-burner hob, oven and grill, and a microwave integrated into the cabinetry alongside the fridge-freezer.
A dishwasher is alongside the wine cooler, integrated into the suite of cabinets that give you a huge double-doored cupboard under the sink, plus a smaller cupboard and a slim cabinet with a drawer that pulls out to reveal two metal basket-style drawers.
Cabinets and drawers are plentiful – five wall cabinets and three at floor level. In addition to all of this, there are six drawers in the island unit that forms a divide between the kitchen and the dining area, as well as augmenting surface space. The Rivendale’s kitchen is superbly designed with practicality in mind.
Dining chairs are upholstered in grey, with a stitched diamond pattern, and rounded backs that create comfort.
Aesthetics are top-notch, too, with pale gold-finish bar handles and taps, injecting a luxury look alongside the delightfully modern dark aqua shade of the cabinet doors and drawers.
Behind the kitchen is the side entrance that takes you into a utility room where you find a washing machine, the heating unit and more cabinets. Dog owners will value this room as a place to usher in muddy paws for a clean before they can pace into the rest of the lodge.
Bedroom luxury is not just about the lovely ambience but the vast amount of space in this room.
The dressing table has an area all to itself, with a large amount of floor space between it and the bed. At the foot of the bed there’s plenty of space in front of the mirrored wardrobe suite; that’s one single wardrobe plus a double that contains six drawers. Three cabinets sit above.
Another wardrobe is to one side of the bedroom, with double doors, a wide hanging space and four shelves below, plus a shelf on top and two cabinets above.
A door alongside this wardrobe opens to reveal the shower room, with a double-sized shower, a tall unit containing three shelves and a cabinet. There’s also a cabinet under the circular washbasin.
Along the corridor leading to the second bedroom is a shower room, with both rainfall and directional shower heads and a smart, black-framed splash shield.
And so to the twin room, with 3ft-wide (domestic single-sized) beds and a padded and buttoned bedhead running the width of the room. There’s a small dressing table with a cube stool upholstered in dark aqua shade velvet, and a wardrobe with two drawers beneath plus a wall cabinet.
Verdict: The snug is surely the defining element of the Pemberton Rivendale lodge, creating versatility in the way you use the lodge. You could even put a desk in here and call it an office if you need to combine leisure and work time.
The Rivendale is spacious everywhere. It has plenty of kitchen storage and plenty of surface space, too. Its many and varied wood elements in the décor create a country vibe of character. Above all, this lodge is well designed for family leisure life.
There are six models to choose from, two of them with three bedrooms. In these models, the third bedroom replaces the snug.
Plus points: The snug! The large fridge with water dispenser – a nice touch. The spectacular industrial-style triple light unit over the dining table.
