Regular checks are becoming routine

It’s encouraging to see that 83% of respondents check their smoke alarms and other fire safety equipment at least a few times each year, with more than a third carrying out monthly checks.

Making these simple inspections part of your routine helps to make sure your fire safety equipment is working when you need it most and gives added peace of mind every time you visit your static caravan or holiday lodge.

Why fire safety matters

Thankfully, fires in static caravans and holiday lodges are uncommon, but they can spread quickly when they do. That’s why it’s important to make sure your safety equipment is in good working order and that everyone staying in your static caravan knows what to do in an emergency.

What should owners be checking?

As part of your regular maintenance routine, it’s worth checking:

  • Smoke alarms are working correctly and batteries are replaced when needed.
  • Carbon monoxide alarms are tested regularly.
  • Fire extinguishers and fire blankets are easy to access and within their service or replacement dates.
  • Gas appliances, hoses and connections are in good condition.
  • Escape routes remain clear, and everyone knows how to exit safely.
